I USED TO DREAM THAT I WOULD MEET A PRINCE

Who: Everyone!
Where: The initial arrival rooms, the main lobby, all over the place.
When: May 7th
What: Feed me, Seymour

ARRIVAL.
you wake up when you hit the floor in a dark room, and the air is knocked out of your lungs. the carpet is threadbare, worn with use, kind of dusty. and you're not the first person to endure this crash landing. nor will you be the last.

once your vision rights itself, you can see the well-lit hallway through the doorjam straight ahead of you. not to say there’s monsters in the shadows, but something propels you towards that door and out into the bright hallway beyond.

and once outside your room, you can hear it: the steady thrum of rain outside.

MAIN LOBBY.
there's a staircase at the end of the lengthy hallway you tumble out of. grab your suitcase and follow the dull green exit signs on the ceiling until you reach the disappointingly bland stairs that lead you down to the ornate old fashion hotel lobby.

to your left is an richly crackling, rather excessively smoking fireplace, to your right is a lobby desk. straight ahead are three large sets of doors, all three of them thrown wide open and welcoming. and outside the few (curtained, permanently dark) windows is the continually steady hiss of rain. once you leave the hallway you wake up in, you won't be able to return.

welcome to the hotel.

FRONT DESK.
though there is a bell and a plaque designating the desk to be the main desk, the customer service desk, there are currently no staff members behind it. none shall answer your calls, either. there is, however, a pad of paper and a pen neatly aligned with the desk edge. you know. for notes.

terribly sorry for the inconvenience.

SCREENING ROOM.
on a long pull-down screen, a silent version of alice in wonderland will be playing on loop. at the back of the room, between the neat rows of fold out chairs, mounted on a wobbly table is the old-timey projector, and mounted on the walls are some rather old speakers that warble out "terrifying" old music.

along the curtained windows is another long table, with a large bowl of chipotle cheese popcorn corn and a large hot drink dispenser full of hot water, with a few cups and some old looking packages of apple cider mix.

DINING HALL.
is tragically, painfully empty.

OTHER.
the ballroom is currently open, and the grand doors unlocked.

there is no main door leading to the outside, good luck trying to find one.

the doors to the courtyard are unlocked.

ROOMS.
you've a room key with your assigned room number on it. all the new guest residences will be located on floors one and two. while there is an open elevator in the main lobby, and the buttons light up inside, the doors will not close. all in all, you'll be better off taking the stairs.

while they're the same stairs you undoubtedly came down to get to the lobby, the door to the endless hall everyone woke up in will not reappear between the main floor and the subsequent residential halls.

there are twenty rooms per floor. feel free to get to know your surroundings; or your neighbors as they trickle in around you.

EXISTING GUESTS.
are you dreaming of omlettes and regretting complaining about the constant pancakes and weak ass coffee yet?

( the tilt of the chin speaks wonders, and clarke has to remind herself that they're not from the same world and he's not adopting the same mannerisms as the seemingly frozen in time (and cruel) mountain men. because that's what it looks like at first. nice clothes, decent hair, the near contemptuous jut of the chin; at least the outstretched palm is innocent enough, and she does deign to shake it. )

No bugs, ( she confirms. ) Anywhere. And no where out anywhere either, we've all looked.

( and after months in a rather small, enclosed space, they've all looked a lot. )

None of us are calm, really. We're all just... ( starving. ) — really tired.

A blue ball. How odd. "Actually, dodge ball might not be such a bad idea once we stop starving." He leaned forward, reaching to pick up the carton of eggs. "What are the chances these came boiled?" He didn't sound too convinced either way.
avengeme: (don't let the wrong word slip)

[personal profile] avengeme 2015-05-18 02:47 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yeah, I get that a lot." he says with some resignation in his tone. There rarely is any good news when it comes to home. "And I can wait. Has anyone managed to debrief you on this place?" Phil Coulson. Always trying to be a helper.
avengeme: (Another chance he takes)

[personal profile] avengeme 2015-05-18 02:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Coulson nods. "I'll take one. Ration some for yourself and share the rest with the others." There's a pause before he continues. "I should warn you. Agent May doesn't remember anything about the formation of the team. I'm still not entirely sure if she is Agent May but I'm working on that."
avengeme: (disturbed)

[personal profile] avengeme 2015-05-18 03:08 pm (UTC)(link)
I'll do you one better. Let me go grab my tablet. He made a video post before.

I haven't seen him around recently though. He could be gone but I can't be sure.

((OOC: I just realized the character's been dropped))

[personal profile] deadlystar 2015-05-18 04:28 pm (UTC)(link)
She does appreciate that he's willing to share information. It will make her more inclined to do the same.

"Nothing that makes any sense. I've been told there is no way of leaving." Which she thinks ridiculous. There must be a way out. "Someone even told me this was another dimension."
ukase: (Dangerous mind)

[personal profile] ukase 2015-05-18 04:28 pm (UTC)(link)
He let Coulson touch his stuff mostly because it brought the other man in range as he casually set aside some items and picked through. Of course he had brought only logical things. "I'd say your chances are pretty low. Give one a shake," he said as he slipped the swiss army knife from the bag and subtly slipped it into his pocket while digging with his other hand as distraction.
avengeme: (found out)

[personal profile] avengeme 2015-05-18 04:47 pm (UTC)(link)
The distraction was successful even as Coulson did his best to keep a close eye on Rumlow. He set the carton on the bed and pried it open, removing one of the eggs and bringing it close to his ear as he shook it.

"Yep. It's raw." Too bad. Eggs would have been a lovely meal. "Find any other food items in there?"
avengeme: (mehh)

[personal profile] avengeme 2015-05-18 04:49 pm (UTC)(link)
"It's one of the working theories. No one really knows where we are or who's behind all this. But people are still being brought in from different worlds and different times every month." It's a bit of a logistics nightmare.
ukase: (All business)

[personal profile] ukase 2015-05-18 04:51 pm (UTC)(link)
He turned his head to watch Coulson with the eggs as his fingers found and closed around the aluminum can of something or another. He shifted his arm, hefting it but it wasn't that heavy. It was still very much a bludgeoning object.

"No way to cook in this place then?" He dug around his very neat suitcase, wondering at Coulson's reflexes. And what he was going to do with a body.
avengeme: (somewhat smug)

[personal profile] avengeme 2015-05-18 05:05 pm (UTC)(link)
"Unless you get really creative." Coulson placed the egg back into the carton and took a step back. Now to make his exit. "Looks like they didn't give you anything too useful either."

[personal profile] deadlystar 2015-05-18 06:05 pm (UTC)(link)
"And you don't have any theories? You, personally, I mean." She knows people have spoken of other dimensions, but Coulson seems like a man who tends to be in the know. She's very collected about all this.
avengeme: (somewhat smug)

[personal profile] avengeme 2015-05-18 06:24 pm (UTC)(link)
"They're as good as guesses. We're probably somewhere similar to Earth since we could breathe and walk around just fine. But the environment can be altered so it's could also be a giant lab." Then he shrugs a little as he continued with a little note of frustration. "Alternatively, there's the magic theory which throws all that science crap into the trash."

[personal profile] deadlystar 2015-05-18 09:32 pm (UTC)(link)
That could be evidence they're on Earth, but Gamora can name many other planets where the same laws would apply. Even on ships in space they can breathe and walk around, but rain would be a trick. "The environment? You mean the weather?" She holds a hand out briefly into the rain, feeling it patter against the palm of her hand.

Getting crowded.

[ Which is a cause for concern. If anything were to happen to really cause panic? Like the ghosts, but worse? Well. They'd be running out of hiding place options pretty soon. ]

People disappearing, too.

[personal profile] cgrades 2015-05-19 12:09 am (UTC)(link)
Making it out of this place is my priority, we can worry about the list, later.

[ because the way things have gone at home recently? there is a strong chance he'll be in deep water, but it's difficult to say. there were meetings with a man named Valentine at some point, e-mails sent about safety plans. ]

Step on someone? There's one I'd like to throw out a window, does that count? [ So yes, there are a few he could part with -- maybe -- but he wouldn't see Eggsy dead, wouldn't go out of his way to harm him but if he got in his way? Yes, he would. ]

You really are mental. [ He frowns, staring up at Rumlow, unwavering and unwilling to back down. ] I'm an open book. [ Sorry, his secrets are his own for now -- he doesn't trust anyone here, not yet. ]

true but ugh i love that icon u used. dat neck okay.

[personal profile] cgrades 2015-05-19 12:12 am (UTC)(link)
[ this guy is a piece of work, isn't he? ]

What, because it's smoking? Flue is either stopped up or the firewood was wet. Or I suppose someone could have added something to it, but that seems unlikely as there isn't really a way out, and smoking the place up with its windows locked? Unwise.

[ sorry, Hook, he's far more observant than he seems and he does have some relative life skills, especially after going through a spy's training. ]

What's that about neglecting to notice, again? I'm afraid I didn't catch it.

[personal profile] cgrades 2015-05-19 12:21 am (UTC)(link)
[ it's nice to meet someone who is at least civilized. many of those he's met here so far have been hostile at best. he stuffs his hands into his pockets afterward, pacing the room, giving it a once over. he doesn't even think twice about the food he's been given -- the deli meet and dog biscuits on his bed. one should definitely be refrigerated but hunger isn't on his mind. yet. ]

There's going to be be something, somewhere, obviously. Air getting in from somewhere, there's an outside. It's here, we just can't see it. [ one of the things they learn in Kingsman, after all, is that sometimes the best exit strategy is not always obvious at first. ]

What, can't sleep in a place like this. Shocking. [ Sarcasm in it's purest form. ] The smoke from the fire isn't help, either.

[personal profile] cgrades 2015-05-19 12:28 am (UTC)(link)
And no way out?

[ He knows the answer -- everyone does, at this point, but it doesn't hurt to ask. ]

Grand. [ But he does know about the food shortage, and even his own stomach is beginning to growl. Without regular meals, he'd have to ration what he had. ] Terrible rooms, terrible service, and no continental breakfast. I'm not certain that can be classified as a hotel.

[ And he opens the package of deli meat, considering it before, out of the smallest speck of goodness in his heart? Offers it to her, first. She's been here longer, after all, and if his training has taught him anything, it's this. ] It's probably shit, to be honest, but better than nothing. Beats the dog biscuits.

He gave her a twisted sort of smile, moving closer to the fire as he returned his attention to it. "You don't have to. It should be common knowledge by now; I'm not ashamed to admit it. I'd probably be dead. If that's not what I am right now."
triplett: (wife-b)

[personal profile] triplett 2015-05-19 02:20 am (UTC)(link)
Trip handed Coulson a stack of four, knowing he'd be lucky to get his boss to take that many but he had to try. He gave a serious nod of acknowledgment at being told May might not be the real deal. "Anything you want me to work on, Sir?"
ukase: (Orders in)

[personal profile] ukase 2015-05-19 02:22 am (UTC)(link)
Considering the windows can't be broken, you might want to consider that big step. [According to others that he had spoken to, the walls couldn't be smashed up much, the side of the building couldn't be climbed and no one here had been provided a weapon. That meant that they were left with their wits, their fists and their feet.]

Driven, actually. I have a mission, and I can't falter. [He wasn't about to press for information that wouldn't be freely given. He wasn't going to waste time and energy convincing someone that what he was going to do in this place was worthwhile and at worst, painful fun.]

Well, snap the book closed. You don't want in, that's fine. I just figured an upright fellow like yourself would like to stand on top of those who no doubt think themselves your better.

[ Natasha grins at him and stands up. ] We already do girls night out. You should tell Laura she's invited, nest time.

Or in hiding. Send it my way.

(( no big deal! we can handwave that she later reported to coulson that he was gone! ))

[Holy shit, meat. Is that meat? She steps into the room like she's some deer approaching a deer trap. (She hasn't hunted, spoiler.)] Beats the nothing.

[She reaches out, and all of a sudden stops, looks at him to check.] Are you sure you want to share this? We're not big on food right now. [And her stomach grumbles like whyyyyyy.]
