( as clary is leaving her room to head back to the lobby, frustrated with the crappy elevator, she decides to hit the stairs. she has her stele with her now, tucked in her jacket pocket. she wishes that she had more - like a seraph blade or something - but she doesn't. just a stele. she's already marked herself with runes, but they're not having as much of an effect as she wants them to. still, she's swift and she's quiet, but as she comes rushing down one flight she smacks jace right in the face with her face. being a shadowhunter and immersed in that life for several months has made her more aware and good on her feet in general - but when she's harried and frazzled and freaking the fuck out, she still forgets there's a world around her.
