The shouting, as sudden and unexpected as it is, is a good thing. Really, it is. It startles Annie into silence and snaps her back into the present moment -- as reluctant as she is to open her eyes and risk seeing the ghosts, withdrawing into her own mind wouldn't be a very effective solution. Luckily, the only person she sees when she warily looks up is the man coming around the corner.
A stranger, yes, and a possible threat just because of all the unknown that comes with that, but he's not a ghost and right now that's a huge point in his favor. She studies him curiously, nodding a little at the apology.
