sit yourself down, and meet the best inn keeper in town ( O P E N )

Who: Everyone!
Where: The initial arrival rooms, the main lobby, all over the place.
When: February 3rd
What: Welcome, newbies.

ARRIVAL.
you wake up when you hit the floor in a dark room, and the air is knocked out of your lungs. the carpet is threadbare, worn with use, kind of dusty. and you're not the first person to endure this crash landing. nor will you be the last.

once your vision rights itself, you can see the well-lit hallway through the doorjam straight ahead of you. not to say there’s monsters in the shadows, but something propels you towards that door and out into the bright hallway beyond.

and once outside your room, you can hear it: the steady thrum of rain outside.

MAIN LOBBY.
there's a staircase at the end of the lengthy hallway you tumble out of. grab your suitcase and follow the dull green exit signs on the ceiling until you reach the disappointingly bland stairs that lead you down to the ornate old fashion hotel lobby.

to your left is a warmly crackling fireplace, to your right is a lobby desk. straight ahead are three large sets of doors, though only one of them is open to the public. and outside the few (curtained, permanently dark) windows is the continually steady hiss of rain.

welcome to the hotel.

FRONT DESK.
though there is a bell and a plaque designating the desk to be the main desk, the customer service desk, there are currently no staff members behind it. none shall answer your calls, either.

terribly sorry for the inconvenience.

SCREENING ROOM.
on a tall pull-down screen, a silent version of nosferatu will be playing on loop. at the back of the room, between the neat rows of fold out chairs, mounted on a wobbly table is the old timey projector, and mounted on the walls are some rather old speakers that warble out "terrifying" old timey music.

along the curtained windows is another long table, with a large bowl that looked like it once would have held popcorn. but is now unfortunately empty. same for the large hot drink dispensers labeled "hot chocolate" and "coffee".

OTHER.
the ballroom and breakfast hall are currently closed, grand doors locked.

there is no main door leading to the outside, good luck trying to find one.

the door to the courtyard is locked.

ROOMS.
you've a room key with your assigned room number on it. all the new guest residences will be located on floors one & two. while there is an open elevator in the main lobby, and the buttons light up inside, the doors will not close. all in all, you'd be better off taking the stairs.

while they're the same stairs you undoubtedly came down to get to the lobby, the door to the endless hall everyone woke up in will not reappear between the main floor and the subsequent residential halls.

there are twenty rooms per floor. feel free to get to know your surroundings; or your neighbors as they trickle in around you.

[Tauriel's patience, never the best to begin with, is wearing thin as of late, stress and strain making her more prone to snap where before she might bite her tongue. It has her frowning sharply and huffing a sigh through her nose.]

I have traipsed all across Middle Earth in my six centuries, child, and not once in all my travels have I ever seen anything like this. [One pale hand lifts and flutters gently in the air, indicating the view out the window, the hotel, the people who inhabit it.]

elevator antics!

[personal profile] villainously 2015-02-07 06:17 am (UTC)(link)
[ Hook doesn't like elevators, that's just a fact. He's not been forced into many, only ran into them in Storybrooke and New York and he always picked the stairs when given the option. To him, elevator was not an accurate name. Certain box of doom was more descriptive and honest. He hadn't tried the creaking, tight space as it was, and didn't intend to, either.

It was just the sight of a girl dressed as ... well, honestly, she looked like a court jester, and that was not a look he'd seen much outside of the Enchanted Forest, that drew his attention.

And that bright, a little too eager grin? Well, that's the grin of a trouble maker. It does take one to know one, but curiosity gets the better of him. ]

I'm told that's broken, darling. [ which is really just a subtle way of wondering what she is up to. ]

[They're all stranded in an old hotel. Using doorknobs for their intended purpose doesn't work, and neither does force. Magic probably would, if she still had it - but they've conveniently taken that away, too. Emma wouldn't go so far as to say they've thought of everything - if there's a way out, they'll find it - but for the moment, they're screwed.

Which is why she stops at the sight of a fellow captive fighting with another door.]

I'm pretty sure that if we're going to get out of here, we're going to have to get more creative than fighting with doors.

[Emma smiles sympathetically, because she gets it. She started a war with a window on the second floor and all it did was make her more frustrated. The things they've already thought to secure are a waste of time.]
64th: (and I regret telling you that.)

[personal profile] 64th 2015-02-07 06:26 am (UTC)(link)
[ stalking really isn't necessary given her national popularity at home, but she hadn't thought about it that way. she's always suspected her home was bugged. this is just more proof. ] Thanks for that, I feel much better now.

[ what are Sherlock Holmes? ] You didn't look?

( oh hell no, she did not blow up a dome and escape the games for this.

given it takes her a rather long time to respond by katniss everdeen standards. the first thing she notices is that the sudden jerk of her head as someone slings their arm around her neck and she tries to jump away makes lights erupt behind her eyelids again. the throbbing in her temples redoubles and she wheezes in pain as her bruised, burned knees hit the carpeted hallways floor with a solid thunk.

this is it, isn't it. if the capitol hadn't brought her here, they'd certainly found her here, and now they were going to kill her. her, and then peeta, which is — not going to happen. it's some herculean effort she summons to throw her elbow back at her attackers gut. and if it connects, it's with significantly less force than she would have liked. )
kirking: (hey what are you guys doing)

[personal profile] kirking 2015-02-07 06:29 am (UTC)(link)
[For a moment, Kirk seems to be at a loss how to respond to that, with logic or just to agree to appease the kid and keep him from crying.]

Yeah, probably, buddy. You uh, want some help looking for them?
1_truth: (pic#2384549)

[personal profile] 1_truth 2015-02-07 06:30 am (UTC)(link)
You asked a question, I answered. [ It's not his job to sugar coat things. It was his job to reveal the truth. ]

I'm more concerned with finding out where I am.
kirking: (oh great fucking aim there old spork)

[personal profile] kirking 2015-02-07 06:32 am (UTC)(link)
[That is a tempting offer. Kirk gives him a wary look for a moment, even if he has more or less come to the same conclusion. That the glass can't be broken or else he would have found a way by now. Because Jim Kirk is awesome at breaking things. Special talent right there.]

Who the hell are you?
kirking: (oh well yolo let's go blow up klingons)

[personal profile] kirking 2015-02-07 06:33 am (UTC)(link)
[Wrong, he doesn't understand. Kirk narrows his eyes at him and approaches the desk.]

Kirk. Jim Kirk and that's not going to work for me. I have a ship, a crew, an angry doctor to get back to. So how about we skip the bullshit and cut to the chase? I'm leaving.
kirking: (boobs? where?)

[personal profile] kirking 2015-02-07 06:37 am (UTC)(link)
[For a moment, Kirk arches an eyebrow at her and then alright. He steps aside because he wants to see this. Impress him, pretty lady because he's already intrigued.]

Please. Be my guest. I'm Jim Kirk by the way. What's your name?
kirking: (hey spock? shut up)

[personal profile] kirking 2015-02-07 06:39 am (UTC)(link)
[So many pretty ladies here~~~

The dress is kind of weird but then. He did wake up in a hotel room with no memory of how he got there and a suitcase with his name on it and no way out. So. A lavish dress is maybe sixth on his list of weird things tonight.]

I don't believe that. Haven't tried everything yet, have we.

[Look, he's offering her a hand.]

Jim Kirk.
kirking: (oh well yolo let's go blow up klingons)

[personal profile] kirking 2015-02-07 06:42 am (UTC)(link)
Good thing that's my life's career.

[Kirk says over his shoulder, flippantly and cocky because well. He's Jim Kirk and it is looking pretty fruitless by now, this whole looking for an exit thing but when he has he ever stopped when he should. It's something to do, besides perhaps start to freak a little.]

I like songs of praise the best. By the way.
1_truth: (pic#2384478)

[personal profile] 1_truth 2015-02-07 06:43 am (UTC)(link)
[ He tried not to let it show on his face just how much being blatantly treated as a child is irritating him and reminds himself that's exactly what everyone sees him as-what he needs them to see him as. ]

[ He offers a bright smile, as though convinced that if an adult said it, it had to be true. ]

That's okay, I'm bound to find them eventually.
kirking: (but i am up in space)

[personal profile] kirking 2015-02-07 06:47 am (UTC)(link)
[So sorry, Emma, for the way that Kirk stares at her after he turns to look at her. His mouth even drops open like a dying fish gaping for air because that's his mom. Younger than he remembers her, and much more... well alive looking but then his last memories of his mom have more to do with a sickbed than with a vibrant, beautiful woman who did the best she could to hold her family together after her husband died and he did everything he could to rip it apart.

Well no. Sam played a good part in that too when he left but that's not the point. The point is that it's been years since his mom died and he misses her sometimes more than he can say.]

... Mom?
ivolunteer: ( cf ) (ᴛʜᴀᴛ's ᴡʜʏ ᴡᴇ'ʀᴇ ᴍᴀᴋɪɴɢ ʜᴇᴀᴅʟɪɴᴇs.)

( her body screams at her to slow down, to stop, to rest — but screw you, nerve endings. she's practically on a mission, and has the end and his blond hair in clear sight. it's not terribly romantic or picturesque; time doesn't slow down dramatically, though she curses her sore muscles and limited mobility range to herself and grits her teeth to make her run faster. they don't slow down and embrace like they would in front of cameras, rather collide, crash like desperate waves.

and katniss clings to him, fists her fingers in his tattered arena suit and squeezes him as tightly as her shaking arms will allow. )
You're alive, ( she gasps to echo him, voice cracking magnificently and eyes threatening tears that, for once, don't have to do with her splitting headache or their destroyed home. )
kirking: (everyone can see what religion i am)

[personal profile] kirking 2015-02-07 06:49 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I gathered that.

[Jim's not a total lady killing asshole. He knows how to reign it in when someone is clearly upset, like he naturally just shuts that part of his personality down. Even though crying women make him uncomfortable as fuck.]

But that doesn't really answer my question either.
kirking: (stop talking about my dad spock)

[personal profile] kirking 2015-02-07 06:52 am (UTC)(link)
[Oh she doesn't dress in a form fitting unitard and basically get kidnapped every day? How odd.]

I think that depends on what you mean by alone. Do I recognize anyone here? No. But I hope I'm not imagining you and talking to myself.
kirking: (oh well yolo let's go blow up klingons)

[personal profile] kirking 2015-02-07 06:54 am (UTC)(link)
What a coincidence, I don't recognize you either.

[Sorry Hook but you can't shake him that easily. If anything, Kirk just looks amused by him now and once Jim Kirk finds you funny, he clings like a leech.]

You got anything left in that?
hacker: (remember good old maisie)

[personal profile] hacker 2015-02-07 06:56 am (UTC)(link)
[ She falters, thinking of her father's face as he insisted to Daisy that no one else would understand her. A half-second later, she offers an easy smile. ]

Skye.

[ Then she moves past him to try and wedge at the window. Her fingers get in the groove and she gives a yank, but it won't come. She rattles it a moment longer, then steps back, nodding for him to get clear. ]

Found anyone in this hotel who's not an unwitting guest? I don't think anybody actually booked.

[ Stepping in, she pivots to raise her leg in a side-kick to the glass of the window. What should reasonably break any glass just bounces off and runs a dull pain up through her leg. ]
pronged: (lecture from mum)

[personal profile] pronged 2015-02-07 06:57 am (UTC)(link)
[It's the third time that James has ended up on the ground, with the rough landing and Peter knocking him on his arse and how is this his life. James groans in something like defeat before he realizes he doesn't understand a word she's saying. It sounds like nothing he's heard before and he has heard a lot from mermaids to goblins to Sirius' drunken blabbering.]

What in Merlin's name are you even saying? Get off me, you crazy bird!
64th: (if i had a mic right now i'd drop it)

[personal profile] 64th 2015-02-07 07:02 am (UTC)(link)
[ he gets a smile out of her. ] Usually when people fantasize about me I have less clothes on. Maybe this is your thing though, I don't judge. [ wink. gonna go with the tried and true method of making friends. ]
pronged: (same shit different day)

[personal profile] pronged 2015-02-07 07:09 am (UTC)(link)
I don't think so, mate.

[That's better, thanks Pete. Now he can breathe and his spleen won't explode. He really appreciates that.]

You alright? Have you seen Lily or Sirius or Remus? Hey-- let me see you wand for a second. Mine's acting funny.
sheriffing: (🌟 51)

[personal profile] sheriffing 2015-02-07 07:19 am (UTC)(link)
What?

[Seriously, what? She crashed into a creepy old hotel a little while ago, and now she can't help but wondering if the landing was a little hard on this guy. This is someone who clearly isn't Henry calling her the one title that means more to her than any other. And from what she can tell, he's totally sincere about it. The grown-man standing in front of her who might be about her age is actually wondering whether or not she's his mother.

Which, alright. The age thing isn't impossible where she comes from, but still.]

I'm sorry - no, I'm... my name's Emma. Emma Swan.

[The smiles gone, but the sympathy's still there. He might be insane, but he's also hurting. She feels like some of that might be her fault.]
64th: (yes i am amazing)

[personal profile] 64th 2015-02-07 07:22 am (UTC)(link)
What if there's a clue inside? Be a shame to miss it. [ she's got a sweater she doesn't recognize and some weird gift receipt. so... clue might be a strong word. ]
1_truth: (pic#3933282)

[personal profile] 1_truth 2015-02-07 07:29 am (UTC)(link)
I never said I wasn't going to look inside, I just said I haven't yet.

[ His birthday didn't work to unlock the device and he has a sneaking suspicion he know what the code is meaning that if there's anything pertaining to his real identity in that suitcase then he'd really rather not open it where anyone could walk up and see. ]
