sit yourself down, and meet the best inn keeper in town ( O P E N )

Who: Everyone!
Where: The initial arrival rooms, the main lobby, all over the place.
When: February 3rd
What: Welcome, newbies.

ARRIVAL.
you wake up when you hit the floor in a dark room, and the air is knocked out of your lungs. the carpet is threadbare, worn with use, kind of dusty. and you're not the first person to endure this crash landing. nor will you be the last.

once your vision rights itself, you can see the well-lit hallway through the doorjam straight ahead of you. not to say there’s monsters in the shadows, but something propels you towards that door and out into the bright hallway beyond.

and once outside your room, you can hear it: the steady thrum of rain outside.

MAIN LOBBY.
there's a staircase at the end of the lengthy hallway you tumble out of. grab your suitcase and follow the dull green exit signs on the ceiling until you reach the disappointingly bland stairs that lead you down to the ornate old fashion hotel lobby.

to your left is a warmly crackling fireplace, to your right is a lobby desk. straight ahead are three large sets of doors, though only one of them is open to the public. and outside the few (curtained, permanently dark) windows is the continually steady hiss of rain.

welcome to the hotel.

FRONT DESK.
though there is a bell and a plaque designating the desk to be the main desk, the customer service desk, there are currently no staff members behind it. none shall answer your calls, either.

terribly sorry for the inconvenience.

SCREENING ROOM.
on a tall pull-down screen, a silent version of nosferatu will be playing on loop. at the back of the room, between the neat rows of fold out chairs, mounted on a wobbly table is the old timey projector, and mounted on the walls are some rather old speakers that warble out "terrifying" old timey music.

along the curtained windows is another long table, with a large bowl that looked like it once would have held popcorn. but is now unfortunately empty. same for the large hot drink dispensers labeled "hot chocolate" and "coffee".

OTHER.
the ballroom and breakfast hall are currently closed, grand doors locked.

there is no main door leading to the outside, good luck trying to find one.

the door to the courtyard is locked.

ROOMS.
you've a room key with your assigned room number on it. all the new guest residences will be located on floors one & two. while there is an open elevator in the main lobby, and the buttons light up inside, the doors will not close. all in all, you'd be better off taking the stairs.

while they're the same stairs you undoubtedly came down to get to the lobby, the door to the endless hall everyone woke up in will not reappear between the main floor and the subsequent residential halls.

there are twenty rooms per floor. feel free to get to know your surroundings; or your neighbors as they trickle in around you.

Yes, the Hotel California.

[While the Nogitsune's voice may not be particularly soothing, its manner is calm and polite. That may help or not.]

I am glad to meet you, Peter. I am sorry, but with the rain storms, the roads have flooded out. Even if you were to go outside, everything is gone and you might end up drowning. When the rain stops, we'll gladly help all of you get on your way.

[It tried for a comforting smile, gesturing to the warm fireplace.]

Why don't you sit down for awhile? You seem tense, Mr Peter.
64th: (i know. i'm good at everything.)

[personal profile] 64th 2015-02-08 03:48 am (UTC)(link)
[ Cashmere misses that 'she' and steps close again. she's not yelling, exactly, but it's clear that he's stumbled on a sensitive subject. ] Who else would be responsible? He's responsible for everything horrific that ever happened to me. I played by all the rules. I shouldn't be here. [ and then - she catches onto his pronoun choice. ] She? What do you mean, she?
64th: (oh little mermaid what have you done?)

[personal profile] 64th 2015-02-08 03:57 am (UTC)(link)
I would have thought a snoopy kid like you would check there first. [ the combination only took her one guess. whoever brought them here knows her too well. ]
taurohtar: (pic#8625885)

[personal profile] taurohtar 2015-02-08 04:43 am (UTC)(link)
[Well, it's not an apology, but at least the girl has ceased to sound so much like she is judging her and finding her lacking, and so Tauriel can feel her ruffled feathers smooth out slightly.]

I did not say. [She has a sinking feeling this girl will not know at all where she is from, but she will tell her nonetheless.] I am from Mirkwood Forest.
kirking: (listen to my damn orders)

[personal profile] kirking 2015-02-08 04:46 am (UTC)(link)
[And Kirk totally buys the smile because he's not looking for anything deeper than a kid.]

Are... you sure? Should you be wandering around on your own?

[yeah like Jim Kirk is a good chaperone]
taurohtar: (Default)

[personal profile] taurohtar 2015-02-08 04:47 am (UTC)(link)
[He may not be especially sensitive, but she does not mind it overmuch. While she is used to being recognized immediately, at least this human can see that she is not like the others.]

I am a Silvan elf.

[Her hair color, and the size of her ears would give that away to anyone who knows anything about the Eldar, but it would seem that nobody here does, and she has resigned herself to continually explaining who and what she is.]

You are human. From whence do you hail?
taurohtar: (Default)

[personal profile] taurohtar 2015-02-08 04:49 am (UTC)(link)
[Tauriel's assessment of this human's age lowers the more she speaks; she finds that the impression she has is of the girl being little more than a child. It means she is gentler with her than she might be otherwise, and she even manages to bring up an uncertain smile, even though it is not quite as steady as she'd have liked.]

Greetings, Cissie. I am Tauriel. [Should she invite the girl-child inside? Perhaps. It cannot hurt, at least.

She takes a step backwards, making space for the human to walk into her room should she so desire.]
Please, come in.
kirking: (you're from the 70s)

[personal profile] kirking 2015-02-08 04:49 am (UTC)(link)
Jim Kirk. Captain of the USS Enterprise. A ship I really need to be getting back to.
kirking: (yo scotty u drunk)

[personal profile] kirking 2015-02-08 04:51 am (UTC)(link)
[Annoyed Kirk. It's just a party down here.

He pulls his communicator out of his pocket and shows it to Stiles.]

Help me get this thing working then. So I can make sure my crew is alright. What if they're out in the storm too?
kirking: (finally a good idea spock)

[personal profile] kirking 2015-02-08 04:56 am (UTC)(link)
Some stoned looking kid behind the front desk might be the only one.

[Consider Kirk a man falling into lust watching her try to kick out the window. It might fail but he loves a girl who tries.]

And I think he's supposed to work here. We're screwed pretty much.
taurohtar: (Default)

[personal profile] taurohtar 2015-02-08 04:57 am (UTC)(link)
[She inclines her head in a little nod, her expression lightening slightly. It is not quite a smile, no, but the distressed frown she had been wearing smooths out slightly, and she looks much less likely to burst into tears without warning.]

I am sure our paths will cross again. This hotel is not overly large. [She is not quite so rude as to close the door in the pirate's face, even though she is fairly certain that this conversation is over, but she does nudge the door a little bit.

She is tired now, more tired than she had been before, and the bed behind her is calling out her name. Perhaps she could lie down for a little while, meditate, attempt to replenish her depleted stores of energy in order to avoid any sort of uncomfortable conversations like this in the future.]
kirking: (finally a good idea spock)

[personal profile] kirking 2015-02-08 04:58 am (UTC)(link)
I also take sexual favors.

[Please, girlfriend, this sass is just how Jim Kirk rolls. He's not hiding anything.

He finally gives up on the window and turns to face her, leaning against the wall.]

And now you're going to tell me you're a virgin too.
kirking: (surrounded by idiots)

[personal profile] kirking 2015-02-08 05:08 am (UTC)(link)
[She looks so startled and confused that he believes her. His mom wouldn't try to pull a joke like that, he knows that. She might'ved locked him out of the house overnight before and threatened to take him to jail herself but she's never pretended not to know him.]

Shit. Sorry.

[Kirk rubs at his eyes, like he's expecting her to look different after he does. She doesn't, she still looks so much like his mother that it weirds him out.]

Sorry, you look a lot like her.
kirking: (never trusting you again)

[personal profile] kirking 2015-02-08 05:09 am (UTC)(link)
[He'll take the little victories whenever he can get them. Looking at his face is one of those.]

Anything I can do for you right now?
kirking: (booze is the only father i've had)

[personal profile] kirking 2015-02-08 05:15 am (UTC)(link)
[Successsssss!

Kirk says a quick 'cheers' as he takes the flask from him and takes a drink. Best friends forever, that's how it started with Bones. Only Kirk's not actually looking to stick around here long enough to make friends like that but he appreciates Killian all the same for sharing.]

Where you from, Killian?
skaikru: (pic#8799226)

[personal profile] skaikru 2015-02-08 05:18 am (UTC)(link)
( not really no but actually... ! )

If you could pretend I didn't just try to break into your room, that'd be great of you.

( it's not her first rooming mishap, but at least this time she's just two doors off instead of an entire FLOOR. )
skaikru: (Default)

[personal profile] skaikru 2015-02-08 05:24 am (UTC)(link)
I can open a door and walk up stairs by myself, ( she promises him wearily, resisting the urge to pinch the bridge of her nose. )

I'm just having a... really bad day.
hacker: (drops the dove again)

[personal profile] hacker 2015-02-08 05:31 am (UTC)(link)
Dark hair, kinda lanky?

[ She raises her hand over her head about four inches, giving a height estimate. Then, she nods. ]

Yeah. Met him. Wasn't a fan. Totally creeped me out, had that Stepford vibe.

[ Thinking back on it, Skye crinkles her nose in a slightly uncomfortable look. She takes another step forward and kicks at the window again. It still doesn't crack, but she's feeling it. They're not light kicks, either. ]

God, what do they make their windows of here, vibranium?
mygame: (not who are you)

[personal profile] mygame 2015-02-08 05:57 am (UTC)(link)
[Now that is interesting. The next thought is that it wants the shiny thing and figure out what it is, what it does. Curiosity is one of its downfalls.]

They are not, Mr Kirk. I can assure you of that. If they are not here then they are in...

[The Nogitsune's voice trails off there, eyes going unfocused. It stands there like that, lips slightly parted as if in a trance of some sort.]

Processing... [is all it says in a small frightened voice]

[personal profile] dislocked 2015-02-08 06:18 am (UTC)(link)
None.

[ Bucky admits, and it's frustrating; he'd always been good at this sort of thing. Intimidating, squeezing out pertinent information using whatever means necessary, but now he's as trapped as all of them. He doesn't get a good look at the girl -- and it's just as well that she doesn't recognize him; he's not the man in the museum portraits.

That man died a lifetime ago, the Winter Soldier is merely the ghost of what little that's left. ]
You can sit, if you like.
dislocked: (78)

[personal profile] dislocked 2015-02-08 06:21 am (UTC)(link)
[ That's the question of the century, isn't it? Why wouldn't they kill and burn the thing? She's a woman after his heart right there. But then again, no such things exist, so there's that. Can't go killing and burning every corpse they find.

He glances back at the screen, having taken her measure, gauging that she's at least seen war, or left more than a few bodies in her wake. She's ruthlessly practical, and hey, that's a good thing. ]

Seems like it. You're from?
dislocked: (93)

[personal profile] dislocked 2015-02-08 06:26 am (UTC)(link)
No.

[ Not the uniform, not anything like that. Younger days: a boy he had to protect. Small. So very small. He glances at the exit again, wonders how quickly he can excuse himself, to spare them both the inevitable pain of this conversation. Just one hurting is enough, just Bucky's enough.

Maybe he can come back again and they can talk about other things. Maybe they don't have to talk about anything at all. But he wants to. He wants to know this man who haunts the recesses of his memory, his waking thoughts. ]
You were smaller.

[ Did it hurt? ]

[It doesn't quite register to her that there are people who wouldn't consider killing and burning a creature such as this; even the most peaceful of peasants would know to murder a creature that threatened to kill them or drink their blood.

She settles her hands placidly in her lap, her fingers curling around themselves.]
Mirkwood Forest.

[Her head tilts slightly, and her expression lightens a little; not quite a smile, but an absence of a frown.] I am Tauriel.

[ People have gotten much softer since the time of bloodthirsty peasantry. Now they bury themselves in their latest gadgets or time-waster of choice. Easy pickings for the discerning assassin or two.

He tilts his head at that response. Mirkwood Forest? It's not something he knows. ]

James. [ Where? He's not sure anymore. Nowhere, maybe. He relaxes inexplicably in her presence, just a little. ] Where is Mirkwood?
cisskabob: (Bitch please)

[....Well, whatever positive opinions Cissie might have had about Kirk just went out the window. Figuratively, of course, since the windows clearly won't open. She gives Kirk a look that is scathing and disgusted.]

First of all, that's none of your business. Second of all, how old are you?

[That's right, Kirk. She just called you old. Because you are.]
