sit yourself down, and meet the best inn keeper in town ( O P E N )

Who: Everyone!
Where: The initial arrival rooms, the main lobby, all over the place.
When: February 3rd
What: Welcome, newbies.

ARRIVAL.
you wake up when you hit the floor in a dark room, and the air is knocked out of your lungs. the carpet is threadbare, worn with use, kind of dusty. and you're not the first person to endure this crash landing. nor will you be the last.

once your vision rights itself, you can see the well-lit hallway through the doorjam straight ahead of you. not to say there’s monsters in the shadows, but something propels you towards that door and out into the bright hallway beyond.

and once outside your room, you can hear it: the steady thrum of rain outside.

MAIN LOBBY.
there's a staircase at the end of the lengthy hallway you tumble out of. grab your suitcase and follow the dull green exit signs on the ceiling until you reach the disappointingly bland stairs that lead you down to the ornate old fashion hotel lobby.

to your left is a warmly crackling fireplace, to your right is a lobby desk. straight ahead are three large sets of doors, though only one of them is open to the public. and outside the few (curtained, permanently dark) windows is the continually steady hiss of rain.

welcome to the hotel.

FRONT DESK.
though there is a bell and a plaque designating the desk to be the main desk, the customer service desk, there are currently no staff members behind it. none shall answer your calls, either.

terribly sorry for the inconvenience.

SCREENING ROOM.
on a tall pull-down screen, a silent version of nosferatu will be playing on loop. at the back of the room, between the neat rows of fold out chairs, mounted on a wobbly table is the old timey projector, and mounted on the walls are some rather old speakers that warble out "terrifying" old timey music.

along the curtained windows is another long table, with a large bowl that looked like it once would have held popcorn. but is now unfortunately empty. same for the large hot drink dispensers labeled "hot chocolate" and "coffee".

OTHER.
the ballroom and breakfast hall are currently closed, grand doors locked.

there is no main door leading to the outside, good luck trying to find one.

the door to the courtyard is locked.

ROOMS.
you've a room key with your assigned room number on it. all the new guest residences will be located on floors one & two. while there is an open elevator in the main lobby, and the buttons light up inside, the doors will not close. all in all, you'd be better off taking the stairs.

while they're the same stairs you undoubtedly came down to get to the lobby, the door to the endless hall everyone woke up in will not reappear between the main floor and the subsequent residential halls.

there are twenty rooms per floor. feel free to get to know your surroundings; or your neighbors as they trickle in around you.

[ it starts to settle, then, just how weird isaac's reactions are. she remembers seeing him with the fly, that sort of far-away look in his eye, but that's not quite what she sees here. he looks at her like he doesn't know her, like she's just some stranger, and her stomach tenses at the thought.

he looks....self-conscious? like before he had to go walk in and stall, but worse. there's a kind of weight to his shoulders that she narrows her eyes a little. ]

Hey, are you ok- [ allison, right? and she stops, mouth open a little. slowly, her brow draws together as she watches him, still trying to pin-point what exactly seems off. ]

You're kidding, right?
algidity: ((/) Apologetic)

[personal profile] algidity 2015-02-11 09:41 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm - [ confused and alarmed? He doesn't get the chance to say if he's okay or not because she's immediately asking him another question.

He wets his lips before pressing them together in thought. Great now he'd managed to piss her off.
]

Sorry - uh - I only have a class or two with you - I'm not good with names...

[ He crosses his arms over his chest nervously, key forgotten in his pocket somewhere. She was acting like he should know her which only manages to make him antsy and a bit panicked. Did he know her better? He doesn't remember her being in his childhood how Matt had. ]

I can help you look for your friends if you want...
kirking: (hey baby)

[personal profile] kirking 2015-02-12 12:30 am (UTC)(link)
[He looks where she gestures and then graces her with a soft smile.]

See you around then, neighbor. Knock next time before you try to break in.
kirking: (he does what to you with his ears?)

[personal profile] kirking 2015-02-12 12:35 am (UTC)(link)
With a starship?

[So his new friend is pre-space travel and he's (maybe?) wrecking the Prime Directive right now. Again. Although, he's pretty sure he can't get into trouble for this one. At least Killian seems to speak English and wears.. you know. Clothes not a toga.]

I'm going to guess you haven't heard of Starfleet before.
kirking: (never trusting you again)

[personal profile] kirking 2015-02-12 12:47 am (UTC)(link)
[The glance he gives her with an arched eyebrow is all the recognition for her not-apology that he's going to concede to her right now. That's not really anything personal, Emma, doppleganger of his mom or not, he doesn't like to talk about his feelings and usually takes a lot of prodding to do it.

Bones is particularly good at it but he's not here right now and he's just met Emma, so.

Back to work.]

Not anything concrete. But then I've never met a window I couldn't break before.
64th: (I suppose that's accurate.)

[personal profile] 64th 2015-02-12 02:08 am (UTC)(link)
[ look if you didn't want questions, Derek, then you should not have been so interesting. you only brought this on yourself. ]

It sounds nice. Really nice. What's the catch?
withbread: (serious discussion [katniss])

[personal profile] withbread 2015-02-12 02:49 am (UTC)(link)
[ Cash...let Peeta teach you how to win friends and influence people. That's not how you do it. Of course, rather than socialize, Peeta was with Katniss so...He flashes Cashmere one of those Capitol smiles] Abduction in the middle of the night, building full of people you don't know, why Cashmere, I don't know what about this situation wouldn't inspire trust.

[ He sobers and drops the Capitol facade a bit at her declaration. She's right. They need allies and at least Cashmere has experience. ] I'm afraid I don't have a bracelet to give you, but yeah...you're right. [ He'll be your ally, Cash. ]

[She can tell by the expression in his eyes — or lack thereof — that he also doesn't know what she is, like everyone else she has spoken to, but it is more than a little pleasant to have him accept her at face value.

She affords him the same courtesy he afforded her; not questioning him about his vague answer, despite the fact that she's desperately curious about what on earth he means by that. "More or less?" More or less than what? How can one only more or less be human?

Still, it is an answer she can accept, and her stiff posture of before relaxes somewhat, her spine curving as her shoulders slump slightly.]

I...do not know. The last thing I remember, I had been crossing the Dead Marshes. The next, I woke up in an empty, dark room, and I was here.

What about you?
pronged: (it's bleeding hot in here)

[personal profile] pronged 2015-02-12 03:05 am (UTC)(link)
[That's just James Potter, he just babbles. And really loves dessert apparently.]

Yeah.

Where the bloody hell are we?
64th: Do you have anything we can throw? (Alright; we need a distraction.)

[personal profile] 64th 2015-02-12 03:09 am (UTC)(link)
[ wow he is paranoid. not that she can really blame him. she returns his careful gaze. just because he acts like he's harmless doesn't mean that he is. ]

I've had better days. [ but now that she's over the initial shock she's doing okay. she's trying to think of it as another arena. at least she's trained for an arena. ] You didn't want this did you? [ she holds up the bowl. she's joking. he seems like he probably wouldn't do too well with the barrage of questions she's aiming at everyone else. ]
kirking: (everyone can see what religion i am)

[personal profile] kirking 2015-02-12 03:10 am (UTC)(link)
[Now see, Kirk didn't get that impression from the kid. More like he was toying with him and knew much more than he was letting on. So that's... kind of weird.]

Did he mention anything about 'processing' to you?
hacker: (that's a fine looking high horse)

[personal profile] hacker 2015-02-12 03:13 am (UTC)(link)
Processing?

[ That gets her attention. Something here isn't adding up, because that's far from the impression she got. Far from the vibe Stiles was selling her. Skye's gaze narrows. ]

No. Nothing like that. Processing for what?
skaikru: (pic#8799099)

[personal profile] skaikru 2015-02-12 03:46 am (UTC)(link)
( he smiles, she tries to smile, and ultimately fails but at least she tried and at least she now she can in good conscious turn her back on him. it's a quick retreat, but you best believe clarke is going to spend the next few hours puzzling over why everyone is being so damn nice here. )
kirking: (stop talking about my dad spock)

[personal profile] kirking 2015-02-12 03:47 am (UTC)(link)
He didn't say.

[But it's not like that sounds very good, does it.]

Here, probably. Whatever the hell here is.
wickedlyable: (003)

[personal profile] wickedlyable 2015-02-12 04:36 am (UTC)(link)
((Oh, lord. The look she levels at him could burn down cities.)) President Snow, you idiot. Who else would I be talking about?

((Yep, she doesn't know about that little multiverse theory quite yet.))
wickedlyable: (002)

[personal profile] wickedlyable 2015-02-12 04:43 am (UTC)(link)
103. I'll keep it in mind in case I want target practice. ((It's the best attempt she can make at a joke right now. Hopefully, Cashmere won't mind too much at her lack of sensitivity, considering her lack of ability to even smirk properly right now.))
64th: a co-worker who hates you?? (So you choose your dad over me)

[personal profile] 64th 2015-02-12 04:46 am (UTC)(link)
Back of your head, then. We'll call it a compromise. [ she smirks back. that bad mood has got to be partially her fault. but if she's going to be sour about being stuck in this hotel, she'll take people down with her.

she does like being right, and him conceding on that point helps with her wounded pride. how was she supposed to know none of this hotel business is his fault? ]
Seems that way. [ she folds her arms across her chest. ] I have to find my brother. Is there anyone you're looking for? I can keep an eye out.
hacker: (the war is won)

[personal profile] hacker 2015-02-12 04:51 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, well, most hotels don't involve a whole lotta processing.

[ Which rules that out, no matter what their cover is. Creepy testing facility? Creepy testing facility. ]
kirking: (i just feel like we're going to die)

[personal profile] kirking 2015-02-12 05:36 am (UTC)(link)
Most hotels have a way out too.

[He didn't even think of creepy testing facility D:

Kirk seems to digest that thought for a moment before he nods a little.]

I think we're going to strike out on this window. Unless you have any other ideas?
64th: would kill to have the same personality as me? (do you know how many basic bitches)

[personal profile] 64th 2015-02-12 06:03 am (UTC)(link)
[ Cashmere scowls. that was harsh. it's about what she would expect from Johanna. she many not understand where they are, or why, but she knows where she stands with the other woman. so she doesn't hate it. ]

Please do. I'd love to test my booby traps. [ the corners of her lips tug upward in a small smile. and with that, she goes. ]
dislocked: (99)

[personal profile] dislocked 2015-02-12 02:36 pm (UTC)(link)
I know.

[ He'd been tracking them before he ended up here -- a weapon turned onto its former masters, vengeance seething in his blood; there is nothing that stays his hand when he discovers their hideouts and slaughters them all without question, the old places, the ones he'd been in, and the few that he hadn't, cutting a bloody swath across the country to start with.

Europe had been next, until... well, until this.

Bucky shifts, the light throwing more contrast, revealing just a few more details. He fixes her with a piercing stare, unrelenting, unforgiving. ]
I'm not HYDRA.
warring: (013.)

[personal profile] warring 2015-02-12 02:52 pm (UTC)(link)
[ like a homestay, then, but far more impersonal. lexa nods in acceptance of that answer, though it brings up more questions than it solves. ]

We aren't underground. [ is it a statement? is it a question? who knows. but she's taking a step toward the window now, eyes narrowed off into the fog. the implications of 'not underground' come a moment later. ] These walls are flimsy. No structures built so poorly survived the war.
warring: (021.)

[personal profile] warring 2015-02-12 02:57 pm (UTC)(link)
[ lexa wants to seethe a sharp 'did I not translate?' but it's not worth the wasted words. her jaw sets, and then she's releasing the girl less-than-gently, rising to her feet. ]

Your name is useless to me either way, [ she dismisses. ]
1_truth: (nothing suspicious about me)

[personal profile] 1_truth 2015-02-12 06:21 pm (UTC)(link)
[ He just shakes his head, keeping the same innocent expression on his face. ]

That's okay, the hotel's not that big so it's not like I'll get lost or anything. [ Although the disappearing hallway is extremely unsettling. ]
larker: (Default)

[personal profile] larker 2015-02-12 06:49 pm (UTC)(link)
[Well this kid doesn't look like William Shatner to Gabriel so...]

Not really. I've just seen enough crap like this to know that it's gonna take a while. You can scream and kick all you want but you aren't going to get anywhere faster, you'll just wear yourself out like an idiot.
