[ It's been a sort of rough couple of weeks for all of them here at Hotel California, all of them haunted by more than just people but entire stories from their past, and Neal hasn't really had a chance to talk to Emma since snapping at her over the network. He's had a little time to think, though, and had a few conversations with Killian that have helped him gain a little perspective. He's come to realize nobody should have to deal with the haunting reminder of a dead ex following them around impeding the lives they should be living, shooting out creepy ass vibes and trying to drag them back to a place they've clearly moved on from.
Maybe it's time he stopped being the Tamara of Emma's life. Or, at least, maybe it's time he stopped being so damn obvious about it, right?
When he spots her by the open ballroom, he figures now's as good a time as any to approach and get a few things off his chest, and so it's with a look of muted humility and a tentative sort of caution that he approaches her, hand in his pockets, posture apologetic. A flicker of a half-smile crosses his features when he takes in the sheer grump on her face backdropped by the cheerfulness of an easter egg hunt.
It's a hilarious juxtaposition, so he can't quite contain a comment on it. ]
