I USED TO DREAM THAT I WOULD MEET A PRINCE

Who: Everyone!
Where: The initial arrival rooms, the main lobby, all over the place.
When: May 7th
What: Feed me, Seymour

ARRIVAL.
you wake up when you hit the floor in a dark room, and the air is knocked out of your lungs. the carpet is threadbare, worn with use, kind of dusty. and you're not the first person to endure this crash landing. nor will you be the last.

once your vision rights itself, you can see the well-lit hallway through the doorjam straight ahead of you. not to say there’s monsters in the shadows, but something propels you towards that door and out into the bright hallway beyond.

and once outside your room, you can hear it: the steady thrum of rain outside.

MAIN LOBBY.
there's a staircase at the end of the lengthy hallway you tumble out of. grab your suitcase and follow the dull green exit signs on the ceiling until you reach the disappointingly bland stairs that lead you down to the ornate old fashion hotel lobby.

to your left is an richly crackling, rather excessively smoking fireplace, to your right is a lobby desk. straight ahead are three large sets of doors, all three of them thrown wide open and welcoming. and outside the few (curtained, permanently dark) windows is the continually steady hiss of rain. once you leave the hallway you wake up in, you won't be able to return.

welcome to the hotel.

FRONT DESK.
though there is a bell and a plaque designating the desk to be the main desk, the customer service desk, there are currently no staff members behind it. none shall answer your calls, either. there is, however, a pad of paper and a pen neatly aligned with the desk edge. you know. for notes.

terribly sorry for the inconvenience.

SCREENING ROOM.
on a long pull-down screen, a silent version of alice in wonderland will be playing on loop. at the back of the room, between the neat rows of fold out chairs, mounted on a wobbly table is the old-timey projector, and mounted on the walls are some rather old speakers that warble out "terrifying" old music.

along the curtained windows is another long table, with a large bowl of chipotle cheese popcorn corn and a large hot drink dispenser full of hot water, with a few cups and some old looking packages of apple cider mix.

DINING HALL.
is tragically, painfully empty.

OTHER.
the ballroom is currently open, and the grand doors unlocked.

there is no main door leading to the outside, good luck trying to find one.

the doors to the courtyard are unlocked.

ROOMS.
you've a room key with your assigned room number on it. all the new guest residences will be located on floors one and two. while there is an open elevator in the main lobby, and the buttons light up inside, the doors will not close. all in all, you'll be better off taking the stairs.

while they're the same stairs you undoubtedly came down to get to the lobby, the door to the endless hall everyone woke up in will not reappear between the main floor and the subsequent residential halls.

there are twenty rooms per floor. feel free to get to know your surroundings; or your neighbors as they trickle in around you.

EXISTING GUESTS.
are you dreaming of omlettes and regretting complaining about the constant pancakes and weak ass coffee yet?

Oh, it's possible. She's just going to have to wrap her mind around that really quickly. Because that's the name of the game around the hotel; and explanations are hard to come by.

"A few months now." Three or four. They've really all blended together in a way that is honestly a bit alarming. "And so far nobody walks out, they just disappear."

"I don't plan on being here that long." She's getting out. Somehow. At least she's determined. And if possible, she'll take everyone else with her, of course. There must be a way to return them to their own worlds. A lot of places are probably better than this one, though.

"Not to dampen your spirits, but I didn't plan on being here this long either." There's no options and no answers, and he's been looking the entire time. So he never tried to scale the walls, he's pretty sure that's a bit of an inhuman feat as it is. She's green but she looks mostly human, makes him concerned she has jealousy issues more than that she's an alien. "It's not that easy to escape, or else I assure you this place would be quite empty."

[personal profile] deadlystar 2015-05-16 12:52 am (UTC)(link)
She's sure others must've tried to escape, but she's not really typical where she comes from, so maybe she has a better chance at achieving it.

"Well, what have you tried?" If she knows what attempts at escape he or others have made so far, that might narrow down her options.

"I've searched for any doors leading out. There are a great many that can't be opened. The glass, the doors, they're not breakable, and trust if they were I would have gotten through. When you arrived, did you wake up in a dark room, went through a hallway to the stairs?"

That's how most of them entered, but he was just checking to be sure. It was not impossible the process would be different with a new set of guests.

She blinks a few times, recognizing what he says as true. "Yes. But when I went back later, that place was gone. The hallway wasn't there anymore." And now that he mentions it, she hasn't tried opening every door. Not yet. Though many belong to other 'guests' and they probably won't like it if she tries barging into their rooms.

"Those locked doors.. we must get inside. There could be something there we need to escape." A control room, or maybe the very people who are holding them here.

"It isn't that easy. These doors, they can't be picked or broken down. Trust that I've tried." He's good with a lock pick and well, anyone can have the brute force to break down a door if they're stubborn enough. "These doors don't open unless this place wants them to. I suspect it's magic."

She could call him a fool if she liked, but that was how he saw it.

It wouldn't stop Gamora from trying on her own, but he is probably right about that.

"Then we must find other ways to enter them." What those ways are, she doesn't know, but she's going to try and think of something. "Thank you for this information."

"Certainly." He can't be bothered to help everyone, yet he respects the fire she has to escape. They could use more like her around. Everyone seems to get so quickly complacent in this place, and Hook rather dislikes that. It's like they've all given up getting out, and he can't give up. He won't.

"We've got to share information here, not that there is much to share."

[personal profile] deadlystar 2015-05-17 08:11 pm (UTC)(link)
"I agree. I will share information with you, if you will do the same." It's good to see people are making an effort here to escape by trying everything they can. She hopes everyone wants to get out as much as she does.

Hook is a pirate. He doesn't always tend to be the most forthcoming about information, but when it comes to getting out of here... well, everyone wins, don't they?

"Aye. The more of us work together, the more likely we are to get out." Even though it was hard to stay hopeful around here, he had to keep trying. An ally wouldn't be a terrible thing.

"Then let us hope we can leave soon." Gamora will head back to her room to clean up unless there was more he wished to speak of.
