a gent of good intent who's content to be ( OPEN )

Who: Everyone!
Where: The initial arrival rooms, the main lobby, all over the place.
When: March 3rd
What: Welcome, newbies.

ARRIVAL.
you wake up when you hit the floor in a dark room, and the air is knocked out of your lungs. the carpet is threadbare, worn with use, kind of dusty. and you're not the first person to endure this crash landing. nor will you be the last.

once your vision rights itself, you can see the well-lit hallway through the doorjam straight ahead of you. not to say there’s monsters in the shadows, but something propels you towards that door and out into the bright hallway beyond.

and once outside your room, you can hear it: the steady thrum of rain outside.

MAIN LOBBY.
there's a staircase at the end of the lengthy hallway you tumble out of. grab your suitcase and follow the dull green exit signs on the ceiling until you reach the disappointingly bland stairs that lead you down to the ornate old fashion hotel lobby.

to your left is a warmly crackling fireplace, to your right is a lobby desk. straight ahead are three large sets of doors, though only one of them is open to the public. and outside the few (curtained, permanently dark) windows is the continually steady hiss of rain. once you leave the hallway you wake up in, you won't be able to return.

welcome to the hotel.

FRONT DESK.
though there is a bell and a plaque designating the desk to be the main desk, the customer service desk, there are currently no staff members behind it. none shall answer your calls, either.

terribly sorry for the inconvenience.

SCREENING ROOM.
on a long pull-down screen, a silent version of the phantom carriage will be playing on loop. at the back of the room, between the neat rows of fold out chairs, mounted on a wobbly table is the old-timey projector, and mounted on the walls are some rather old speakers that warble out "terrifying" old music.

along the curtained windows is another long table, with a large bowl of popcorn and a large hot drink dispenser full of hot water, but without any tea or hot chocolate packets around.

OTHER.
the ballroom is currently closed, and the grand doors locked.

there is no main door leading to the outside, good luck trying to find one.

the doors to the courtyard and breakfast hall are unlocked, but looks like you've missed the morning meal. sucks for you.

ROOMS.
you've a room key with your assigned room number on it. all the new guest residences will be located on floors three and four. while there is an open elevator in the main lobby, and the buttons light up inside, the doors will not close. all in all, you'll be better off taking the stairs.

while they're the same stairs you undoubtedly came down to get to the lobby, the door to the endless hall everyone woke up in will not reappear between the main floor and the subsequent residential halls.

there are twenty rooms per floor. feel free to get to know your surroundings; or your neighbors as they trickle in around you.

EXISTING GUESTS.
it's late when the newcomers arrive, there's a good chance you'd been about to go to sleep (or just waking up, who knows, your mom's not here to tell you when to go to bed or get up). but if you're paying attention, you might hear the hustle and bustle in the lobby below; or maybe you're just drawn there because your gut told you to go join the commotion. whatever the case may be, go mingle!

( Hook is really not a man with sparkling sleeping habits in the best of situations, but in a place that is practically Neverland 2.0 only sans the jungle, he's reverting back to the way he existed there. unlike Neverland, sleep is actually a requirement here. . . and well, the pirate does not so much sleep as he does pass out occasionally. so it's not really abnormal that he's awake in the little hours that the new influx waves in.

so he's really just spectating the new group of lost souls, not really providing much in the way of aide but it isn't really like there's much he can give them, anyway. cheers, you're trapped for the foreseeable future. hoarde your blankets if you know what is good for you. the pirate hopes to find some kind of promise in the new group that's arrived, yet they all seem as hopeless and clueless as the last set.

he's mostly minded himself, but the girl searching out the window drags his attention. )
Not much to see out there, love. Same weather for a bloody month, now. ( and he'd still rather go out and get rained on than be trapped in this place any longer, it just does not presently seem to be an option. so he thinks, when he realizes he'll soon be out in the courtyard enjoying the rain and the fog. )

[ She notices his reflection in the window right before he speaks, which is the only thing that keeps her from jumping at his voice. She lets the curtain fall back into place as she turns to look at him. He's pretty, and it makes her wary. The last pretty boy she trusted had tried to poison her. He doesn't look the poisoning type, but then again, neither had Chase. ]

You mean it does nothing but rain?

[ She almost immediately forgets that she's supposed to be wary of him, because why has it been raining for a whole month? ]

( oops, well, he was the poisoning type. just the once. in his defense, he would have killed Rumpelstiltskin any old way, dreamshade just seemed properly painful at the time. and it hadn't worked anyway!

not the point.

he's no meteorologist (he also has no idea what a meteorologist is) but he has been keeping mind of the windows, mostly because he's so chagrined to being stuck inside of them. )
Sometimes it stops raining for a pace but the sky never clears. I take it you're new.

[ And, obviously, she is not the best judge of character! She once dated the guy who snatched her purse on the street, went to a completely different country with a guy who was responsible for hundreds of murders. You can probably do the math.

She peers out the window again, frowning. So it's very possible that she's never going to experience the sunshine again. It's a thought that never bothered her until she was actually faced with it. After a moment, she turns toward him fully, tilting her head. ]
I take it you're not.

( if it makes her feel better, he's not so much the poisoning type now? really, he was only the poisoning type when it came to the crocodile, everyone else he'd rather a fair fight. poison was playing dirty, he'd rather take his victory by earning it instead of coercing it.

he probably would agree that he's not a shining example of good character, though. once a villain, always a villain; if this place taught him anything it's likely that. )

Been here about a month. Might want to get friendly with the breakfast room, that's the only meal they serve and you'll want to stock up. ( there, his good deed for the day. )

[ A month. So this isn't some over night thing or week-long trip. Not that she was really expecting that, but she'd been holding out hope. Hope that just got taken out back and shot in an alleyway. So there's that.

Her eyes slip closed and she sighs. ]
Right. Because all I've ever wanted is to eat only breakfast for the rest of my life. [ It's like one awful hit after another. It reminds her of when she was first being trained, how Malcolm knocked her down again and again and again, forcing her to get right back up every time. She doesn't feel any more prepared for this than she had for that.

She opens her eyes again, sizing him up briefly. ]
I'm Thea.

( well, it's a shit situation, but at least there is food freely found. in Neverland that wasn't always the case. he's not especially fond of pancakes and mixed fruit either but he'll take it. better than nothing. he's done his part warning her, he thinks, he's not going to point out there's no good in complaining about it. he glances past her with a frown at the weather, only to look back when she introduces herself.

Regina is fond of telling the entire hotel she's the evil queen, yet the pirate isn't so quick to mention he's supposedly fictional. what with all the drama of Greg and Tamara, it seems wise to be the slightest bit cautious. )

[ It's easy for her to be pessimistic about things. It always has been, and she's always had a lot to be pessimistic about. She didn't always handle it well, dealing with the deaths of her brother and her father in a very unhealthy way. That's not an option anymore, though. It hasn't been an option in a long time. It's not even one she considers anymore.

She nods, and finally, offers a bit of a smile. ]
Thanks for the advice.

Certainly. It isn't too hard to take extra when it's served. ( as far as he knows, nobody is starving here yet. . . considering the general, rundown climate of the place, he's not sure how long that might last. an intimidating thought, considering how many people were around and really how quickly the stored food would spoil even if someone was smart enough to keep a bit of a stockpile.

he doesn't see the point in mentioning that, though. if it happens, hopefully she'll already have taken his advice and set up storing some food. if he can manage it, he'll experiment with drying fruit. that might help if the food slowed down for a time. )
There isn't any staff, not that we've found yet. We're all trapped here for the time being, and no explanation as to why yet.

[ She tilts her head, sighing quietly. ] It would've been great if they served only ice cream instead of only breakfast.

[ Ice cream is definitely a meal she could eat for the rest of her life. In all seriousness, though, she'll definitely have to be sure to be up early enough to get breakfast and hoard whatever foods will spoil the slowest.

Her brow creases a little, but she nods. ]
I noticed the lack of staff. [ There's obviously someone bringing them here and feeding them every day, though. Just not someone who's showing themselves. ] Are there people who've been here longer than you?

( he manages a snort of a laugh at that. if only because it sounds particularly absurd to him. ice cream every meal. . . no he can't say he wishes the same, he's not much for sweet things (which means the fruit and pancakes got old fast). ) I think we'd all take ill that's all we had to eat, darling.

( at her next inquiry, he shakes his head. ) All of us seemed to show up at the same time. Maybe hours earlier, but not days or weeks. ( he's not sure if it's an accomplishment to have made it a month in this place. . . it's a little shameful there hasn't been an escape found yet. ) It looks like a normal inn but mind yourself, it's far from that. ( it'd take some effort to explain all the ways this place is odd, she'll have to make do with just a simple warning unless she wants to flag him down again when he's feeling more helpful. )

[ Her smile broadens a little. She's just barely an adult, very freshly twenty years old. Ice cream for every meal still sounds the most brilliant idea ever. ] Can't hold your ice cream, Killian? That's disappointing.

[ She nods slowly, looking thoughtful. That is probably the most vague warning that she has ever gotten, and that's saying something, considering the various vague warnings she's gotten from her brother before. It's not all that helpful (Because she already knew this wasn't a normal hotel, it doesn't have a door to the outside.) but it's enough that she'll have something to go off of when she talks to someone else. ] I'll definitely keep that in mind.

I didn't mind it the couple times I tried it ( because ice cream isn't exactly easy to come by in a 17th century world and the pirate didn't go out of his way to find it in a modern one either ) but I doubt it'd protect you much from scurvy. ( he tends to date himself terribly when he talks about scurvy. he doesn't look like a centuries old pirate, but he sure as shit talks like one.

it's a long story, longer than he has much interest in recounting. he has not been in the mood of late for excessive conversation. his mind tends to set on something and well, it's rarely talking. )
Considering the circumstances, it's safe to say you'll see me around.

[ Her brows definitely arch in some form of disbelief at the word 'scurvy'. Are people really still concerned about scurvy? That's what Vitamin C vitamins are for, right?

At least she's used to talking to grumpy full grown men. This conversation is not unlike one she'd have with her brother, minus the scurvy bit. The only difference is that Killian is a hell of a lot cuter than Oliver is. So she nods, her smile settling into something small. ]
Yeah, absolutely. Doesn't look like we're going anywhere anytime soon.

( look, he has no idea what vitamin c is, he just knows you need to eat fresh fruit or you'll lose your teeth. and fresh fruit, ice cream is not.

he exhales a slightly frustrated noise at the reminder they won't be going anywhere fast. sadly that's true, seeing as he hasn't gone anywhere for a month. )
We'll get out eventually. ( he refuses to entertain another alternative. the smile she offers is enough to merit a slight smirk. not quite a smile, Jones, it was a nice try. with that he headed off; perhaps the influx of people had brought something new of interest.

he bloody well hoped so. )
