a gent of good intent who's content to be ( OPEN )

Who: Everyone!
Where: The initial arrival rooms, the main lobby, all over the place.
When: March 3rd
What: Welcome, newbies.

ARRIVAL.
you wake up when you hit the floor in a dark room, and the air is knocked out of your lungs. the carpet is threadbare, worn with use, kind of dusty. and you're not the first person to endure this crash landing. nor will you be the last.

once your vision rights itself, you can see the well-lit hallway through the doorjam straight ahead of you. not to say there’s monsters in the shadows, but something propels you towards that door and out into the bright hallway beyond.

and once outside your room, you can hear it: the steady thrum of rain outside.

MAIN LOBBY.
there's a staircase at the end of the lengthy hallway you tumble out of. grab your suitcase and follow the dull green exit signs on the ceiling until you reach the disappointingly bland stairs that lead you down to the ornate old fashion hotel lobby.

to your left is a warmly crackling fireplace, to your right is a lobby desk. straight ahead are three large sets of doors, though only one of them is open to the public. and outside the few (curtained, permanently dark) windows is the continually steady hiss of rain. once you leave the hallway you wake up in, you won't be able to return.

welcome to the hotel.

FRONT DESK.
though there is a bell and a plaque designating the desk to be the main desk, the customer service desk, there are currently no staff members behind it. none shall answer your calls, either.

terribly sorry for the inconvenience.

SCREENING ROOM.
on a long pull-down screen, a silent version of the phantom carriage will be playing on loop. at the back of the room, between the neat rows of fold out chairs, mounted on a wobbly table is the old-timey projector, and mounted on the walls are some rather old speakers that warble out "terrifying" old music.

along the curtained windows is another long table, with a large bowl of popcorn and a large hot drink dispenser full of hot water, but without any tea or hot chocolate packets around.

OTHER.
the ballroom is currently closed, and the grand doors locked.

there is no main door leading to the outside, good luck trying to find one.

the doors to the courtyard and breakfast hall are unlocked, but looks like you've missed the morning meal. sucks for you.

ROOMS.
you've a room key with your assigned room number on it. all the new guest residences will be located on floors three and four. while there is an open elevator in the main lobby, and the buttons light up inside, the doors will not close. all in all, you'll be better off taking the stairs.

while they're the same stairs you undoubtedly came down to get to the lobby, the door to the endless hall everyone woke up in will not reappear between the main floor and the subsequent residential halls.

there are twenty rooms per floor. feel free to get to know your surroundings; or your neighbors as they trickle in around you.

EXISTING GUESTS.
it's late when the newcomers arrive, there's a good chance you'd been about to go to sleep (or just waking up, who knows, your mom's not here to tell you when to go to bed or get up). but if you're paying attention, you might hear the hustle and bustle in the lobby below; or maybe you're just drawn there because your gut told you to go join the commotion. whatever the case may be, go mingle!
alifetime: (oh really)

[Jack is the worst friend ever. His lip quivers with the strain of trying not to laugh. This regeneration is perhaps even more flailing than the last.]

Wasn't me that she was looking for, Doctor. Can't help you out there. I'm going to go find Clara while you handle, er, that.

[ The. Worst. ]

No. I don't trust you with Clara. And besides, I think Clara might be able to diffuse the situation with Jackie. I imagine she won't be too happy with me. If I'm getting the blame.
alifetime: (cheeky grin)

[personal profile] alifetime 2015-03-09 03:29 am (UTC)(link)
[He is Jack Harkness, the one person who isn't falling over himself (mostly) for the Doctor. Someone has to bring him back to reality.]

Clara told me she didn't care what you thought of her and I being about. We already had our first date.

[He grins cheerfully.]

Even got to see her room.

[That last might be a lie.]
usernamesarecool: (No Idea what that is.)

[personal profile] usernamesarecool 2015-03-09 03:40 am (UTC)(link)
What? But we've only been here, what twenty minutes? How can you have had a date in that time? Keep your hands to yourself. [ Or just off Clara. She kind of reminds him a little bit of Susan. ]
alifetime: (grin would i lie?)

[personal profile] alifetime 2015-03-09 09:18 pm (UTC)(link)
She put her hands on me. Gave me the full tour. It was great. Our first official date. Even asked her to marry me.

[Jack has no concept of when a joke has gone too far, and it isn't often he gets a good grip on the Doctor's chain to give it a pull.]

Lovely girl. [He sighs happily.]
usernamesarecool: (All Mouths today.)

[personal profile] usernamesarecool 2015-03-09 10:28 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Oh the LOOK he is giving you Jack. ]

That's because you got too close. [ He knows who you are. ]

Anyways, where was it you said you saw Jackie?
alifetime: (sunglasses)

[personal profile] alifetime 2015-03-10 09:54 pm (UTC)(link)
[Oh the bland smile the Doctor is getting in return. Maybe it's the regeneration, but Jack just can't get as disturbed as he would had it been Ten or Nine glaring at him. This one is just gawky. Maybe it's the lack of a TARDIS.]

Me? I was a charming gentleman, I'll have you know.

[Because he was Captain Jack Harkness. Who didn't want him?]

Over that way. [He waves vaguely.]
usernamesarecool: (covered in soot is slightly less cool)

[personal profile] usernamesarecool 2015-03-10 11:08 pm (UTC)(link)
So you've said.

[ He raises an eyebrow at how vague that indication was. It's important to him that he find Jackie-One he needs to know if the fabric of reality has been damaged but also because it's Rose Tyler's mother. Not only would Rose never forgive him but he doubts if he'd forgive himself if he let anything happen to her. ]

[ And speaking of not letting things happen to certain people. ]

But Listen, we need to talk about your-erm condition. If we are in another universe I'm sure you know, Rose can't see you. When she absorbed the Time Vortex she could only see across time in our universe. So you need to be careful.

[That's enough to snap Jack out of fun and games time. A hand reaches out, meaning to stop the Doctor if he makes contact.]

It was a joke, Doc. Jackie isn't here. Neither is Rose. I was teasing you. The Clara part is real. We really did go on a date and she's said she'd marry me, but the rest is bullshit.

[The grin has fallen away with it, the immortal grim now.]

Am I still... ? Even here?

[Of course Jack was. Even here in this wherever it was, Jack remained a fixed point in time and unkillable.]
usernamesarecool: (Fez's are cool)

[personal profile] usernamesarecool 2015-03-11 12:03 am (UTC)(link)
What kind of cruel joke is that? [ Do not joke to him about Jackie Tyler. He still has nighmares about her sometimes. ]

I don't know, if we're not in our universe then she shouldn't be able to see you. The only way she could would if there are holes in the walls of the universe. There's only one way to test it and I'd rather not-and I won't have you testing it either. So be careful. [ He snaps his fingers and points directly at jack before patting him once on the shoulder. ] I'll be watching you.

That being said, I look forward to working with you again. [ Provided you keep your hands off Clara. And Rose too should she show up but he knows that's too much to ask for. ] Room 319. Meetings'll be in my room considering your... erm-history.

[Duh. That's why he did it in the first place.]

Um, Doc.

[There it is. That familiar feeling working with the Doctor brings in that one has been simultaneously steamrolled into something and has no clue what the hell is going on suddenly.]

Er, okay?
