checking in? ([personal profile] checkingin) wrote in [community profile] checkingout2015-03-03 09:01 pm

a gent of good intent who's content to be ( OPEN )

Who: Everyone!
Where: The initial arrival rooms, the main lobby, all over the place.
When: March 3rd
What: Welcome, newbies.

ARRIVAL.
you wake up when you hit the floor in a dark room, and the air is knocked out of your lungs. the carpet is threadbare, worn with use, kind of dusty. and you're not the first person to endure this crash landing. nor will you be the last.

once your vision rights itself, you can see the well-lit hallway through the doorjam straight ahead of you. not to say there’s monsters in the shadows, but something propels you towards that door and out into the bright hallway beyond.

and once outside your room, you can hear it: the steady thrum of rain outside.

MAIN LOBBY.
there's a staircase at the end of the lengthy hallway you tumble out of. grab your suitcase and follow the dull green exit signs on the ceiling until you reach the disappointingly bland stairs that lead you down to the ornate old fashion hotel lobby.

to your left is a warmly crackling fireplace, to your right is a lobby desk. straight ahead are three large sets of doors, though only one of them is open to the public. and outside the few (curtained, permanently dark) windows is the continually steady hiss of rain. once you leave the hallway you wake up in, you won't be able to return.

welcome to the hotel.

FRONT DESK.
though there is a bell and a plaque designating the desk to be the main desk, the customer service desk, there are currently no staff members behind it. none shall answer your calls, either.

terribly sorry for the inconvenience.

SCREENING ROOM.
on a long pull-down screen, a silent version of the phantom carriage will be playing on loop. at the back of the room, between the neat rows of fold out chairs, mounted on a wobbly table is the old-timey projector, and mounted on the walls are some rather old speakers that warble out "terrifying" old music.

along the curtained windows is another long table, with a large bowl of popcorn and a large hot drink dispenser full of hot water, but without any tea or hot chocolate packets around.

OTHER.
the ballroom is currently closed, and the grand doors locked.

there is no main door leading to the outside, good luck trying to find one.

the doors to the courtyard and breakfast hall are unlocked, but looks like you've missed the morning meal. sucks for you.

ROOMS.
you've a room key with your assigned room number on it. all the new guest residences will be located on floors three and four. while there is an open elevator in the main lobby, and the buttons light up inside, the doors will not close. all in all, you'll be better off taking the stairs.

while they're the same stairs you undoubtedly came down to get to the lobby, the door to the endless hall everyone woke up in will not reappear between the main floor and the subsequent residential halls.

there are twenty rooms per floor. feel free to get to know your surroundings; or your neighbors as they trickle in around you.

EXISTING GUESTS.
it's late when the newcomers arrive, there's a good chance you'd been about to go to sleep (or just waking up, who knows, your mom's not here to tell you when to go to bed or get up). but if you're paying attention, you might hear the hustle and bustle in the lobby below; or maybe you're just drawn there because your gut told you to go join the commotion. whatever the case may be, go mingle!

[emily is already aware of the newest arrivals at this point so she newt approaches and calls out to her as she is walking his way] Yeah sure, I can try. Anything specific you want to know?

no worries!!

Any information you have to give. Though what I'm hearin' there's not even much of that, but maybe someone else missed something you didn't.

[ Everyone here seems pretty helpful so far, but he's still skeptical. Rat Man just made it pretty clear they couldn't trust anything except themselves. ]

And I'm looking for my friends. Met anybody callin' themselves a Glader?

Yeah, there isn't too much. I've been here a month and from what I do know is that we're stuck in this hotel with our belongings only being what we get in our suitcases. [she pauses for moment as she thinks over what else to mention]

It's like no one is even running this place even though our rooms get cleaned everyday and food seems to just appear too. It seems like this place, whoever is behind this kidnapping is capable of taking people from different worlds too. [hearing his next question, she shakes her head, looking more apologetic in response]

As for your friends, I haven't met anyone like that but they could be around— what are their names?
gluestick: (and get to see your face again)

[Newt's eyebrows rise, and he looks so skeptical right now.]

Different worlds? You're kiddin', right? That kinda klunk doesn't actually exist.

[As far as he actually remembers, anyway, but he is like 95% sure that is still sci-fi mumbo jumbo even with the memory wipe.

But after his skepticism, Newt goes on to list nineteen other names, among them are Thomas, Minho, Frypan, Stan, Frankie, Winston, Clint, and Aris and the rest were never really mentioned in canon because Thomas was a loser and never found out their names.]

Honestly I'm still a bit skeptical of it but no, I'm not kidding— in this place it seems like it does exist. [all the discrepancies, people being from different times, it was hard to exactly ignore that]

That's a lot of names, I'll keep a lookout if I do run into any of them though.

[personal profile] gluestick 2015-03-25 04:01 pm (UTC)(link)
What makes you think that? That's the most whacked theory I've ever buggin' heard.

[ Newt will continue to hold his skepticism. This all just seems way too much like something WICKED would do. Honestly, the people here could be WICKED trying to mess with his mind so they can study it some more. ]

Thanks, you'll know 'em right off. They're a lot of ugly shanks.

There differences in time and well— a lot of things I know from back home, it's like people have never even heard of it here. [because really mentions of the graysons and even the clarke name seem to mean nothing to people here]
gluestick: (but you saw no fault)

[personal profile] gluestick 2015-03-29 10:27 pm (UTC)(link)
It's just as like it's a bloody memory block or implanted memories. WICKED's all about that kinda klunk.

[ Yeah, Newt doesn't believe that whole different universes theory. It's just way too out there, and WICKED has already proved that they can change a person's perception. This just proves that more. ]

[personal profile] unforgives 2015-03-31 12:12 am (UTC)(link)
A memory block? I suppose that's possible too though— [she considers that theory for a moment before following up with another question] Who or what is WICKED?
gluestick: (shrugging off the dust and memory)

An organization- scientists, I guess? Came together when the sun flares hit, supposedly, formed a group to get rid of the Flare. Except it comes at the cost of a bunch of bloody kids being taken and experimented on.

[ He drags his hands through his hair, frustrated. ]

They put us in the Maze, then starved us when we got out, and then gave us the bloody Flare as an incentive to get the Cure. They're monsters is what they are.
