ARRIVAL.
you wake up when you hit the floor in a dark room, and the air is knocked out of your lungs. the carpet is threadbare, worn with use, kind of dusty. and you're not the first person to endure this crash landing. nor will you be the last.
once your vision rights itself, you can see the well-lit hallway through the doorjam straight ahead of you. not to say there’s monsters in the shadows, but something propels you towards that door and out into the bright hallway beyond.
and once outside your room, you can hear it: the steady thrum of rain outside.
MAIN LOBBY.
there's a staircase at the end of the lengthy hallway you tumble out of. grab your suitcase and follow the dull green exit signs on the ceiling until you reach the disappointingly bland stairs that lead you down to the ornate old fashion hotel lobby.
to your left is a warmly crackling fireplace, to your right is a lobby desk. straight ahead are three large sets of doors, though only one of them is open to the public. and outside the few (curtained, permanently dark) windows is the continually steady hiss of rain.
welcome to the hotel.
FRONT DESK.
though there is a bell and a plaque designating the desk to be the main desk, the customer service desk, there are currently no staff members behind it. none shall answer your calls, either.
terribly sorry for the inconvenience.
SCREENING ROOM.
on a tall pull-down screen, a silent version of nosferatu will be playing on loop. at the back of the room, between the neat rows of fold out chairs, mounted on a wobbly table is the old timey projector, and mounted on the walls are some rather old speakers that warble out "terrifying" old timey music.
along the curtained windows is another long table, with a large bowl that looked like it once would have held popcorn. but is now unfortunately empty. same for the large hot drink dispensers labeled "hot chocolate" and "coffee".
OTHER.
the ballroom and breakfast hall are currently closed, grand doors locked.
there is no main door leading to the outside, good luck trying to find one.
the door to the courtyard is locked.
ROOMS.
you've a room key with your assigned room number on it. all the new guest residences will be located on floors one & two. while there is an open elevator in the main lobby, and the buttons light up inside, the doors will not close. all in all, you'd be better off taking the stairs.
while they're the same stairs you undoubtedly came down to get to the lobby, the door to the endless hall everyone woke up in will not reappear between the main floor and the subsequent residential halls.
there are twenty rooms per floor. feel free to get to know your surroundings; or your neighbors as they trickle in around you.

emily thorne | ota
[the last thing emily remembered was being at the beach with nolan that morning telling him of her new plans. it was a distinct contrast from feeling the air being knocked right out of her all of a sudden as she hits the ground. something was wrong, she can already tell even before she opens her eyes and pushes herself up just moments later to scan her new surroundings. it's obvious she is a room but beyond that not much is making sense to her.
emily didn't like being caught off guard and being on unfamiliar grounds ranked pretty high as far as unexpected things go and it only heightened her suspicions. for a moment she thinks the graysons are involved but her theories on that are short lived given the precautions she's taken and not to mention her training too. if she were anyone else, she would have panicked but that just wasn't her style. she heads towards the door only to just barely notice a suitcase on the ground and upon closer inspection she finds her name on it.
emily frowns, looking completely unamused. she figured that there had to be someone here who was behind all this so all she needed to do was find them and be on her way. it was funny how she mentioned just moments ago to nolan that she wanted to press pause of her plans for revenge and now here she was in a completely unfamiliar place far away from it all. it was not what she had in mind but despite how she got here, she was confident that she would find a way out on her own, whoever brought here her clearly didn't know who they were dealing with. she impulsively grabs the suitcase just in case it might be important and starts to head further down the hallways to see if she can find someone to talk to. sometimes she might even tap someone on the shoulder to get their attention or call them out from afar as an alternative] Hey— do you have a minute?
elsewhere | lobby, front desk, other;
[sometime later after asking a few people and finding a complete lack of answers, emily is no less determined about getting out of this motel and figuring out this situation she happens to be in. she is skeptical at best, not trusting anyone just yet but that hardly shows in her expression as she tries to remain as friendly as always if anyone approaches her. she is lugging around her suitcase while she explores a bit, her expression is a combination of both concern and a hint of curiosity as she looks around. mostly to get more familiar with the surroundings and possibly find a clue or anything really that will lead to answers between the lobby area and the empty front desk] This is way too eerie for my tastes.
rooms | second floor;
[with her keycard in hand, she goes to check out where she's supposed to staying. room 211 is what her card seems to indicate so she heads down the hallways trying to find it.
if she didn't happen to collide with anyone on her way, she eventually makes it to her room and starts to investigate, checking out the room itself before focusing on her suitcase next. the door to her room is slightly ajar for anyone to walk in but judging from the contents of her suitcase which she has opened, there wasn't much she needed to hide but either way she was prepared for anything]
[elsewhere | lobby etc etc]
But none of that matters, and when Emily speaks to her, Cissie gives her a wry smile in return.]
Tell me about it. It feels a little like an episode of The Twilight Zone.

Did you just get here too? [now that she knows that most of the other people here have also been kidnapped, she turns up the charm trying to be as friendly as she can because when it comes down to it, she needs to make at least some friends]
rooms | second floor;
She's moving too fast without looking where she's going, rounding a corner quickly on her way to 208. For all of the things she wants (like an explanation, and a way home), Emma is temporarily willing to settle for a change of clothes. Rushing back to change out of her dress is what causes the collision, sending Emma stumbling into Emily with a brief noise of surprise.
She steadies herself with a hand against the wall and takes a step back, eyes on the other woman to make sure she's alright.] Sorry, I was -
I guess I've seen enough of all the nothing going on here to stop expecting to find others. Are you okay?
no subject
Now that I can understand— [she gives a small smile, while dusting herself off a bit from the almost fall she had] I'm okay though, don't worry about it.
no subject
[Emma buys it because Emily seems fine, just nicer about it than she probably deserves. She should have been paying attention, not nearly knocking someone on her ass.
She smiles apologetically, shoving her hands into her pockets.] I'm Emma.
no subject
My name is Emily. I'm guessing your assigned room is somewhere on this floor too? Unless you're exploring this floor or something.

[Boots, jeans, layers. This is what her life has become. Expecting it is part of getting through it, and this time, they caught her unprepared.]
I'm guessing we're neighbors?
no subject
But yeah, it seems like we are neighbors. I'm just a couple doors down in 211.

[That might be one of the creepiest parts of this place - the idea that someone went through their lives to see what and who they should take. She smooths over her dress and slips her hands into the pockets.]

arrival
Hi. Yeah. I guess I don't have anywhere else to be. [ just hanging around the lobby, waiting to see who else shows up. she's holding the framed photo she found in her suitcase, pulled close to her chest protectively. ]

Sorry to be bearer of bad news, but it's starting look like we're stuck here.
no subject
[she lets out a sigh only to just barely attempt a small smile] It's okay, thank you for telling me.
no subject
Well you should at least be caught up to the same level of confusion as the rest of us. [ a smile tugs at the corner of her lips. ] I'm Cashmere, by the way.
no subject
[she smiles at that before nodding] I definitely appreciate it. My name is Emily.
no subject
I hope I don't sound insane and paranoid but watch out for people. We don't know who we're stuck here with yet. [ and to be truthful, Cashmere's quick assessment of Emily says she doesn't look like she could do much in the way of self-defense. ]
