sit yourself down, and meet the best inn keeper in town ( O P E N )

Who: Everyone!
Where: The initial arrival rooms, the main lobby, all over the place.
When: February 3rd
What: Welcome, newbies.

ARRIVAL.
you wake up when you hit the floor in a dark room, and the air is knocked out of your lungs. the carpet is threadbare, worn with use, kind of dusty. and you're not the first person to endure this crash landing. nor will you be the last.

once your vision rights itself, you can see the well-lit hallway through the doorjam straight ahead of you. not to say there’s monsters in the shadows, but something propels you towards that door and out into the bright hallway beyond.

and once outside your room, you can hear it: the steady thrum of rain outside.

MAIN LOBBY.
there's a staircase at the end of the lengthy hallway you tumble out of. grab your suitcase and follow the dull green exit signs on the ceiling until you reach the disappointingly bland stairs that lead you down to the ornate old fashion hotel lobby.

to your left is a warmly crackling fireplace, to your right is a lobby desk. straight ahead are three large sets of doors, though only one of them is open to the public. and outside the few (curtained, permanently dark) windows is the continually steady hiss of rain.

welcome to the hotel.

FRONT DESK.
though there is a bell and a plaque designating the desk to be the main desk, the customer service desk, there are currently no staff members behind it. none shall answer your calls, either.

terribly sorry for the inconvenience.

SCREENING ROOM.
on a tall pull-down screen, a silent version of nosferatu will be playing on loop. at the back of the room, between the neat rows of fold out chairs, mounted on a wobbly table is the old timey projector, and mounted on the walls are some rather old speakers that warble out "terrifying" old timey music.

along the curtained windows is another long table, with a large bowl that looked like it once would have held popcorn. but is now unfortunately empty. same for the large hot drink dispensers labeled "hot chocolate" and "coffee".

OTHER.
the ballroom and breakfast hall are currently closed, grand doors locked.

there is no main door leading to the outside, good luck trying to find one.

the door to the courtyard is locked.

ROOMS.
you've a room key with your assigned room number on it. all the new guest residences will be located on floors one & two. while there is an open elevator in the main lobby, and the buttons light up inside, the doors will not close. all in all, you'd be better off taking the stairs.

while they're the same stairs you undoubtedly came down to get to the lobby, the door to the endless hall everyone woke up in will not reappear between the main floor and the subsequent residential halls.

there are twenty rooms per floor. feel free to get to know your surroundings; or your neighbors as they trickle in around you.

[That earns a small laugh. No, her Tim isn't much for team sports either. She shakes her head.]

Not exactly that kind of team, no. It was a little more... selective.
notafraidofyou: (Family)

[Slightly narrowed eyes. He thinks he has an idea of what she's getting at, especially since she's not being at all specific, but that's really more Bruce's gig than his.]

Huh. Bruce is more into the private club thing than I am. It's not really my scene.
cisskabob: (Talk to me)

Re: [A. Because why not.]

[personal profile] cisskabob 2015-02-09 03:24 am (UTC)(link)
[...Honestly, the thought makes her sad. She knows what her Tim is like on his own; she knows how bad he can get without his friends around him. The idea of Tim never having them at all is... depressing.

Not that she's going to let onto that right now. She can tell by the look she's getting that he's catching on. May as well keep going.]

...What about your brother? He's a pretty natural leader.
notafraidofyou: (Dick and Tim)

Re: [A. Because why not.]

[personal profile] notafraidofyou 2015-02-09 03:32 am (UTC)(link)
[Both eyebrows go up.]

Uh. He's... He kind of does his own thing in Bludhaven. He's even less of a joiner than I am.
cisskabob: (Thinky thoughts)

Re: [A. Because why not.]

[...That surprises her, visibly. She doesn't even bother trying to hide it. For multiple reasons, really.]

That--wow. Different. He kind of founded... several teams. We made our own, but there was the precedent he set.

[She pauses, leaning back against the table with the empty popcorn bowls.]

...How old are you? Just for point of reference.
notafraidofyou: (Upside Down)

Re: [A. Because why not.]

[personal profile] notafraidofyou 2015-02-09 03:53 am (UTC)(link)
...I feel like we're not even talking about the same guy right now. [Aaand finally have a slight smile as he turns the rest of the way around and puts his feet up on the back of his own seat] But I guess we're probably not.

Sixteen. You?
cisskabob: (Frowning)

Re: [A. Because why not.]

[personal profile] cisskabob 2015-02-09 04:10 am (UTC)(link)
...I guess not, [she agrees, and gives him a tiny smile of her own in return. It's awkward and hesitant, because... Yeah. This is weird.]

Eighteen. We met when we were fourteen, so... I guess things are pretty different where you're from.

[Sixteen. Sixteen was a horrible year for her Tim. It honestly makes her feel a little sick, thinking about Tim being on the other side of that year, again. Maybe it is a good thing this isn't her Tim. She shakes her head.]
notafraidofyou: (Long Night)

Re: [A. Because why not.]

[personal profile] notafraidofyou 2015-02-09 04:34 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah. [And now have a long look, because he's pretty sure the answer to this is going to be no, but he has to check anyway.]

...Does the name Justice Lords mean anything to you?
cisskabob: (Cissie says 'um?')

Re: [A. Because why not.]

[personal profile] cisskabob 2015-02-09 04:47 am (UTC)(link)
No. [She raises an eyebrow. Justice Lords? That's certainly different. But she can play this game.] Justice League, sure. Teen Titans. ...Young Justice doesn't ring a bell for you, does it?
notafraidofyou: (Long Night)

Re: [A. Because why not.]

[personal profile] notafraidofyou 2015-02-09 01:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, good. They're not local for us, but they kinda stopped in once. In Metropolis. They were pretty bad news. The League had to take care of them.

So yeah, I've heard of that first one, but no on the other two.
cisskabob: (Oi)

Re: [A. Because why not.]

[personal profile] cisskabob 2015-02-09 05:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, with a name like Justice Lords... [She shakes her head, and sighs a little, brushing her hair back.] I guess it makes sense that you haven't heard of the other two, given what you said before.
notafraidofyou: (Juggle)

Re: [A. Because why not.]

[personal profile] notafraidofyou 2015-02-09 06:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah. Sorry.

[Paaaaaaaaaaause.]

And. Uh. Sorry about before. I guess you're pretty close with other me?
cisskabob: (Eh)

Re: [A. Because why not.]

[personal profile] cisskabob 2015-02-09 10:52 pm (UTC)(link)
[If her smile is a little strained... Well, she's trying.] Well, you know. It's possible I was kind of a bitch. Sorry about that.
notafraidofyou: (Long Night)

Re: [A. Because why not.]

[personal profile] notafraidofyou 2015-02-10 01:09 am (UTC)(link)
[shrug] I've had worse.
cisskabob: (Cissie smirks [AB])

Re: [A. Because why not.]

[personal profile] cisskabob 2015-02-10 01:43 am (UTC)(link)
[Have a knowing smile.] Yeah, I'm sure you have. But it still wasn't fair of me, so I'm sorry.
notafraidofyou: (Hair Ruffle)

Re: [A. Because why not.]

[personal profile] notafraidofyou 2015-02-10 01:52 am (UTC)(link)
[Hey, for all you know he's talking about mouthing off at one of the million and one benefit galas Bruce makes him attend.]

So. Fresh start?
cisskabob: (Hairtuck)

Re: [A. Because why not.]

[personal profile] cisskabob 2015-02-10 03:02 am (UTC)(link)
Fresh start, [she agrees, feeling oddly relieved. Odd, because before running into him here, she was pretty good with avoiding him for as long as they're stuck here. But now... maybe she can come to terms with this Tim being--well, not her Tim.]

...It should go without saying, but I feel like I should say--any secrets of my Tim that might apply to you? They're safe with me.
notafraidofyou: (Hair Ruffle)

Re: [A. Because why not.]

[personal profile] notafraidofyou 2015-02-10 01:17 pm (UTC)(link)
[So maybe they've been hinting around the cape thing for a while, but he's not going to come out and say it. Not a chance.]

Me? I'm an open book.
cisskabob: (Cissie says Hee!)

Re: [A. Because why not.]

[personal profile] cisskabob 2015-02-11 02:29 am (UTC)(link)
[That makes her laugh outright, rolling her eyes.]

Yeah, okay. Sure you are. I'm sure you hate being underestimated, too.
notafraidofyou: (Formalwear Sucks)

Re: [A. Because why not.]

[personal profile] notafraidofyou 2015-02-11 03:44 am (UTC)(link)
[Cissie, you just invited Tim to be his most obnoxious.]

Ugh. Tell me about it. [He folds his arms across his chest, looking annoyed.] It's like people think you can't do anything if you're still a teenager. I mean, there's more to me than junk food and video games! I have opinions on things!
