a gent of good intent who's content to be ( OPEN )

Who: Everyone!
Where: The initial arrival rooms, the main lobby, all over the place.
When: March 3rd
What: Welcome, newbies.

ARRIVAL.
you wake up when you hit the floor in a dark room, and the air is knocked out of your lungs. the carpet is threadbare, worn with use, kind of dusty. and you're not the first person to endure this crash landing. nor will you be the last.

once your vision rights itself, you can see the well-lit hallway through the doorjam straight ahead of you. not to say there’s monsters in the shadows, but something propels you towards that door and out into the bright hallway beyond.

and once outside your room, you can hear it: the steady thrum of rain outside.

MAIN LOBBY.
there's a staircase at the end of the lengthy hallway you tumble out of. grab your suitcase and follow the dull green exit signs on the ceiling until you reach the disappointingly bland stairs that lead you down to the ornate old fashion hotel lobby.

to your left is a warmly crackling fireplace, to your right is a lobby desk. straight ahead are three large sets of doors, though only one of them is open to the public. and outside the few (curtained, permanently dark) windows is the continually steady hiss of rain. once you leave the hallway you wake up in, you won't be able to return.

welcome to the hotel.

FRONT DESK.
though there is a bell and a plaque designating the desk to be the main desk, the customer service desk, there are currently no staff members behind it. none shall answer your calls, either.

terribly sorry for the inconvenience.

SCREENING ROOM.
on a long pull-down screen, a silent version of the phantom carriage will be playing on loop. at the back of the room, between the neat rows of fold out chairs, mounted on a wobbly table is the old-timey projector, and mounted on the walls are some rather old speakers that warble out "terrifying" old music.

along the curtained windows is another long table, with a large bowl of popcorn and a large hot drink dispenser full of hot water, but without any tea or hot chocolate packets around.

OTHER.
the ballroom is currently closed, and the grand doors locked.

there is no main door leading to the outside, good luck trying to find one.

the doors to the courtyard and breakfast hall are unlocked, but looks like you've missed the morning meal. sucks for you.

ROOMS.
you've a room key with your assigned room number on it. all the new guest residences will be located on floors three and four. while there is an open elevator in the main lobby, and the buttons light up inside, the doors will not close. all in all, you'll be better off taking the stairs.

while they're the same stairs you undoubtedly came down to get to the lobby, the door to the endless hall everyone woke up in will not reappear between the main floor and the subsequent residential halls.

there are twenty rooms per floor. feel free to get to know your surroundings; or your neighbors as they trickle in around you.

EXISTING GUESTS.
it's late when the newcomers arrive, there's a good chance you'd been about to go to sleep (or just waking up, who knows, your mom's not here to tell you when to go to bed or get up). but if you're paying attention, you might hear the hustle and bustle in the lobby below; or maybe you're just drawn there because your gut told you to go join the commotion. whatever the case may be, go mingle!

Did you just say traveling through space?

[ Disbelief etches into Skye's expression as she interrupts him at the desk on her way out of the screening room. Her brow furrows, jaw slightly slack, shoulders hunched. ]
usernamesarecool: (being a kissogramme is not cool)

[personal profile] usernamesarecool 2015-03-05 02:24 am (UTC)(link)
[ The Doctor twists to see who's approaching and offers a smile as he usually does to humans that clearly uncertain of him. But that's okay, he's good at talking, he does it so often he likes to think himself somewhat of an expert. ]

Yes, you heard correctly. Though usually it's the traveling through time that gets the most attention. I'm The Doctor, and you are?
hacker: (i'm like shoulder)

[personal profile] hacker 2015-03-05 03:54 am (UTC)(link)
Skye. [ She answers, with only a slight furrow of her brow at his title. Hell, if Tony Stark can call himself Iron Man … She just lets the name go. ] And I don't know if you've talked to Raven yet, but by the looks of it, we've all done a little time traveling just to get here. Kinda kills the allure.
usernamesarecool: (Tea is cool)

[personal profile] usernamesarecool 2015-03-05 05:41 am (UTC)(link)
Raven? Dunno a Raven. [ He admits, storing the name in his memory for later. Probably a good person to talk to. ]

Nothing kills the allure of traveling through Time and Space, and I'd know I've been at it over nine hundred years.

But interesting question, what do you mean by we've all done a little time travel?
hacker: (only chip company that doesn't sell air)

[personal profile] hacker 2015-03-05 05:46 am (UTC)(link)
I mean Raven's people have been living on some space colony off Earth for like a bajillion years while it wasn't safe to come down, and meanwhile, in 2015, the only aliens we see are the ones who come visit us because we can't get past the freaking moon. Somebody's out of their element here. Possibly everybody.

usernamesarecool: (my credentials are cool)

[personal profile] usernamesarecool 2015-03-05 06:29 am (UTC)(link)
Space colony? It's not Starship UK is it? I've been on that one. Either way, I'd like to meet this Raven-I need to know if the Timeline I'm aware of and the time line she has sync up. Time is always changing but there should be a few key details that don't change-Like the sun expanding.

And no worries-I'm perfectly in my element.
hacker: (good job nasa keep up the good work)

[personal profile] hacker 2015-03-05 06:33 am (UTC)(link)
You just said you traveled in time and space. You aren't exactly the one I'm worried about here. [ It's literally everyone else. ] Anyway, she called it the Ark.
usernamesarecool: (Ignore coincidences when busy)

[personal profile] usernamesarecool 2015-03-05 05:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah. If her time line syncs with what I know about the future then no amount of time off Earth will make it livable again. Sun expanded. Or it will. eventually.

She has an ark you say, is that a-a biblical reference?
hacker: (Let me tell you a thing about Walgreens)

[personal profile] hacker 2015-03-07 05:04 am (UTC)(link)
I guess? [ A clueless shrug comes, and Skye shakes her head. ] You'd have to ask her for details.
usernamesarecool: (Reading is cool)

[personal profile] usernamesarecool 2015-03-07 05:26 am (UTC)(link)
I'll keep her in mind. [ He states calmly, talking a look around the room again. ]

Anyways Skye, I'm getting the feeling you've been here a bit longer than I have, might I ask how long?
hacker: (on how to be an ally to The Gays™ :))

[personal profile] hacker 2015-03-07 05:32 am (UTC)(link)
You sure you wanna know? It's not gonna make you feel better. [ She feels like a fair warning is well-deserved, in this instance. ]
usernamesarecool: (Just so cool.)

[personal profile] usernamesarecool 2015-03-07 05:40 am (UTC)(link)
Promise I can handle it. I need to know how bad things are so I can figure out how to fix it.
hacker: (11:11 i wish i was a dog)

[personal profile] hacker 2015-03-07 05:43 am (UTC)(link)
A month. [ And it hurts her to admit it because it eats away at her like failure. ] It's been a month.
usernamesarecool: (Maybe facepalming isn't cool)

[personal profile] usernamesarecool 2015-03-07 05:57 am (UTC)(link)
A month? [ He makes a kind of disgusted face. ] Do you have any idea how many planets I could visit in that time?

[ He runs his hand down his face. ] Okay, okay. A month. So what can you tell me about this erm-hotel?
hacker: (forgive and forget??)

[personal profile] hacker 2015-03-07 05:59 am (UTC)(link)
[ A number of questions bubble up in her throat, and her curiosity lingers in her gaze, has her almost leaning towards him with how badly she wants to ask about those planets. About whether or not he's seen writing like Coulson was carving into whatever surface he could. Like— ]

No staff. Four weeks, no staff. No access door for them to get through, yet somehow, breakfast's hot and ready every morning. [ And then she has to blurt out: ] How many planets have you visited?
usernamesarecool: (I've almost got a signal)

[personal profile] usernamesarecool 2015-03-07 06:08 am (UTC)(link)
That's interesting. [ No staff and yet breakfast happens everyday. Sounds like there's a teleport hidden around somewhere. He fishes his sonic screwdriver out of his pocket and presses the button on the side, scanning it around the room. ]

Dunno, lost count at around a thousand.
hacker: (just fucking shredded on my ukulele)

[personal profile] hacker 2015-03-07 06:12 am (UTC)(link)
Dining hall's already locked for the day. [ Because he has that weirdly investigative face on as he waves his glow stick around. The buzzing noise it makes has her leaning back, perplexed and scrutinizing, ] What the hell is that thing doing?
usernamesarecool: (These readings are not cool)

[personal profile] usernamesarecool 2015-03-07 06:18 am (UTC)(link)
[ Once the scan is complete he elongates the screwdriver to get a look at the reading, frowning heavily at the results or lack of results as the case maybe. ]

Scanning for teleport residue-but it doesn't seem to be working. [ He taps it against his hand a few times and tries again. ] It's got to be a teleport-teleport's always leave a residue-with can be reversed.
hacker: (why isn’t there a dollar bill eyes emoji)

[personal profile] hacker 2015-03-08 05:49 am (UTC)(link)
If there's no residue, there's no residue. So if it's not teleport, what is it?
usernamesarecool: (Well this isn't cool)

[personal profile] usernamesarecool 2015-03-08 06:24 am (UTC)(link)
[ He hits the screwdriver a little harder against his hand when he still doesn't get the results he wants. ] No. It has to be a teleport-vanishing form one place only to appear in another is teleporting-the means don't matter. Everything you do leaves evidence-here, I'll show you.

[ He pauses a moment to start digging in his pocket before pulling out an old pair of classic 3D glasses- blue and red lens and all before handing them over to Skye with his free hand. ]

I've crossed between realities before-put these on and you'll see the little particles floating around me-they're called void stuff and you only get them when you've travelled from one universe to another. It distorts reality. Teleports are different mind-but they due create a sort of disturbance. One the Sonic can USUALLY PICK UP ON [ He's not yelling at her, he's yelling as his screw driver because it's still not working properly. ]

...Maybe it's been rewired.
hacker: (time for the sun to go down)

[personal profile] hacker 2015-03-10 02:18 am (UTC)(link)
[ Wow he's a crazy person. As the Doctor hands her 3-D glasses, her faith in him dwindles, and she stares at them, then at his shouting, then back at them. Slowly, reluctantly, judging, she lifts them to her face.

Imagine her surprise, then, when she does see fuzzy little particles floating around him. Skye's jaw drops open and her eyes, hidden behind the red and blue plastic film lenses, widen.
]

You have got to show these to Fitz.
usernamesarecool: (Maybe facepalming isn't cool)

[personal profile] usernamesarecool 2015-03-10 04:16 am (UTC)(link)
Sorry, to who?

[ He's not against it, he'll talk to anybody. ]

I know that setting isn't wrong. We got rid of the settings. upgraded to point and press. Why aren't you working!?

[ ...Or any thing. ]

[ He flips it around in his hand and inspects the green tip and then the bottom. ]

Okay. No Sonic-have to work on that later. But that's okay-I save the earth from being incinerated in under twenty minutes once. This'll be easy.

[ Except that he knows it won't be, he's seen far too many warning signs to think it'll be easy. ]

Fitz. [ She repeats, as if that were the problem. ] 115. [ She points up at the ceiling. ] He's a rocket scientist. Big time engineer, the best I've ever met.
usernamesarecool: (Leaning on this wall is cool)

[personal profile] usernamesarecool 2015-03-10 04:45 am (UTC)(link)
Fitz. Room 115. I'll keep him in mind. If he is that good, I'm sure he's got theories of his own on this place.
hacker: (*sleeps to avoid my problems*)

[personal profile] hacker 2015-03-11 01:25 am (UTC)(link)
He is.

[ She says it with some firmness, like she wants to stubbornly iterate that against some doubt or accusation. Thinking of his injuries, no doubt, and worrying they cast some kind of shadow over his abilities. ]
