sit yourself down, and meet the best inn keeper in town ( O P E N )

Who: Everyone!
Where: The initial arrival rooms, the main lobby, all over the place.
When: February 3rd
What: Welcome, newbies.

ARRIVAL.
you wake up when you hit the floor in a dark room, and the air is knocked out of your lungs. the carpet is threadbare, worn with use, kind of dusty. and you're not the first person to endure this crash landing. nor will you be the last.

once your vision rights itself, you can see the well-lit hallway through the doorjam straight ahead of you. not to say there’s monsters in the shadows, but something propels you towards that door and out into the bright hallway beyond.

and once outside your room, you can hear it: the steady thrum of rain outside.

MAIN LOBBY.
there's a staircase at the end of the lengthy hallway you tumble out of. grab your suitcase and follow the dull green exit signs on the ceiling until you reach the disappointingly bland stairs that lead you down to the ornate old fashion hotel lobby.

to your left is a warmly crackling fireplace, to your right is a lobby desk. straight ahead are three large sets of doors, though only one of them is open to the public. and outside the few (curtained, permanently dark) windows is the continually steady hiss of rain.

welcome to the hotel.

FRONT DESK.
though there is a bell and a plaque designating the desk to be the main desk, the customer service desk, there are currently no staff members behind it. none shall answer your calls, either.

terribly sorry for the inconvenience.

SCREENING ROOM.
on a tall pull-down screen, a silent version of nosferatu will be playing on loop. at the back of the room, between the neat rows of fold out chairs, mounted on a wobbly table is the old timey projector, and mounted on the walls are some rather old speakers that warble out "terrifying" old timey music.

along the curtained windows is another long table, with a large bowl that looked like it once would have held popcorn. but is now unfortunately empty. same for the large hot drink dispensers labeled "hot chocolate" and "coffee".

OTHER.
the ballroom and breakfast hall are currently closed, grand doors locked.

there is no main door leading to the outside, good luck trying to find one.

the door to the courtyard is locked.

ROOMS.
you've a room key with your assigned room number on it. all the new guest residences will be located on floors one & two. while there is an open elevator in the main lobby, and the buttons light up inside, the doors will not close. all in all, you'd be better off taking the stairs.

while they're the same stairs you undoubtedly came down to get to the lobby, the door to the endless hall everyone woke up in will not reappear between the main floor and the subsequent residential halls.

there are twenty rooms per floor. feel free to get to know your surroundings; or your neighbors as they trickle in around you.

[...Had she not just been talking about Asgard? Tauriel is confused. However, she's distracted enough by what she says next to let it slide. If they dress like her, does that mean they are probably some race of elves? Or is it just that they dress in a fashion suited to traveling, to hunting, to serving as a guard for their king, instead of...whatever it is Skye is wearing.

She makes a soft noise of understanding in the back of her throat, even though she is just as lost as she has been this whole conversation.]
I am familiar with magic.

[ Peeta hasn't reached that point of resignation yet. eventually, he'll have to. yes, he's fake but she probably understands why right now. eventually maybe they'll both figure out who the real person behind that fake is. cameras are a good bet and the reason for the necessary facades. ] Thank you. That's kind of you. I hadn't any idea of what to expect from any of the victors, but I've been pleasantly surprised. [ You know, up until that moment when the Games started and everyone started killing each other.

sorry, she's still a big deal to Peeta and the one that he's playing this game for anyway. Peeta nods. The offer was real; if he sees Gloss he will let him know Cashmere is looking for him and vice versa, at least until the point that one of them tries to kill him or Katniss. Peeta's brow furrows at Cashmere's words. His expression is skeptical and that charming mask drops a bit. ]
I thought maybe it was part of...do you think they really haven't heard of Panem? [ Or is it part of the Game?]

[It's Emma's fault, not Emily's.

She's moving too fast without looking where she's going, rounding a corner quickly on her way to 208. For all of the things she wants (like an explanation, and a way home), Emma is temporarily willing to settle for a change of clothes. Rushing back to change out of her dress is what causes the collision, sending Emma stumbling into Emily with a brief noise of surprise.

She steadies herself with a hand against the wall and takes a step back, eyes on the other woman to make sure she's alright.]
Sorry, I was -

I guess I've seen enough of all the nothing going on here to stop expecting to find others. Are you okay?
engender: (greets coolly)

[personal profile] engender 2015-02-09 12:58 am (UTC)(link)
I thought I did. But, he just resembles someone I know. [ and then he adds ] The resemblance is uncanny.
engender: (counsels confidently)

[personal profile] engender 2015-02-09 12:58 am (UTC)(link)
Nobody's died, yet.

[ it may be derek's idea of lightening the mood. one may never know ]
engender: (remembers lately)

[personal profile] engender 2015-02-09 01:00 am (UTC)(link)
I'm not saying you can't. [ how are you more stubborn than he is? ]

You're not alone in that. We all woke up here. [ some bloodier than others. and yes, derek had a day. he'd died. ]

[She is not entirely sure what the girl means, but her demeanor manages to at least put her at ease. It does seem ridiculous to think that she could mean Noah's Ark, but then what else is she to think.]

You must forgive me then for I know no other place.
wickedlyable: (007)

[personal profile] wickedlyable 2015-02-09 01:57 am (UTC)(link)
I know, right? ((She scoffs harshly, turning away from the other girl for a moment to glance back at the mess on the floor. When Cashmere asks the question, though, she's stuck. On one hand, there's no point in riling Cashmere up - and loathe as she is to admit it, Johanna's too tired right now to engage in their usual back and forth. On the other hand, Johanna really, really doesn't like lying. Finally, she says shortly-)) You don't have to worry about him. One hasn't been affected by the rebellion. ((Both true sentences.))

[personal profile] skaikru 2015-02-09 02:00 am (UTC)(link)
Thank you, ( she sighs, somewhat relieved. though really, who was going to make fun of her for having a really bad first day in the hotel? and who did she owe an explanation to besides maybe raven, who'd proved unwilling to listen to her. she probably doesn't need his promises and won't value them tomorrow.

but for now they allow her an easy out of this conversation, and clarke dips her head. )

I'm sure I'll see you around. ( clarke gestures noncommittally over to her left, because yup, sure enough, that's her room there. )

Lady Lucrezia. [She holds off on her husband's name, not out of deceit, but she still does not know the loyalties of this place. The tall woman's name means nothing to her, and the place is foreign, but it is her demeanor which makes Lucrezia comfortable.]

Tis a pleasure, Tauriel of the Greenwood. Come, let us see what we can make of this place.

[To her it is foreign, but a guard beside her has her shoulders relaxing at least, knowing there is at least some protection. She advances down the hall in hopes of finding something, some answer to give them some idea of this strange place.]
notafraidofyou: (Om Nom Snacktime)

[A. Because why not.]

[personal profile] notafraidofyou 2015-02-09 02:10 am (UTC)(link)
[Tim is sitting in the second row, with his feet up on the seat in front of him. When he hears Cissie's voice, he turns to look. Oh. Her. He turns back to face the screen again.]

Could be worse. There could be vampires here.
cisskabob: (Arms crossed)

Re: [A. Because why not.]

[personal profile] cisskabob 2015-02-09 02:18 am (UTC)(link)
[Cissie hadn't seen Tim when she came in, and when he pops up out of the row of chairs, she is surprised. And then disappointed and annoyed that it's him.

Except that she was pretty rude to him earlier.]

...Well. We don't necessarily know that there aren't.
notafraidofyou: (Train Ride)

Re: [A. Because why not.]

[personal profile] notafraidofyou 2015-02-09 02:39 am (UTC)(link)
[Extremely rude, Cissie. And don't think he didn't catch the disappointment.]

Hm. True. I guess we'll have to keep an eye out for people sporting holes in the sides of their necks.
cisskabob: (See what I'm saying?)

Re: [A. Because why not.]

[personal profile] cisskabob 2015-02-09 02:44 am (UTC)(link)
Well, I guess it'll be hard to watch for people who avoid sunlight, so that'll have to be the giveaway.
notafraidofyou: (Long Night)

Re: [A. Because why not.]

[personal profile] notafraidofyou 2015-02-09 02:50 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah.

[All right. He turns to look at her again, regarding her curiously.]

So how did we meet?
cisskabob: (Pensive [AB])

Re: [A. Because why not.]

[personal profile] cisskabob 2015-02-09 02:56 am (UTC)(link)
[Cissie looks at him seriously for a moment. She knows he's definitely not the Tim she knows, and by now she's at least remembered the multiverse. So... the question is how to answer that.

Some version of honesty, maybe. If he's never heard of her, then she's not risking her own secret identity. Right?]

...We were on a team together.
notafraidofyou: (Om Nom Snacktime)

Re: [A. Because why not.]

[personal profile] notafraidofyou 2015-02-09 03:00 am (UTC)(link)
[Have a somewhat skeptical look.]

...Like basketball or something? I dunno, I'm not much of a joiner.
cisskabob: (whaaa)

Re: [A. Because why not.]

[personal profile] cisskabob 2015-02-09 03:06 am (UTC)(link)
[That earns a small laugh. No, her Tim isn't much for team sports either. She shakes her head.]

Not exactly that kind of team, no. It was a little more... selective.
notafraidofyou: (Family)

Re: [A. Because why not.]

[personal profile] notafraidofyou 2015-02-09 03:18 am (UTC)(link)
[Slightly narrowed eyes. He thinks he has an idea of what she's getting at, especially since she's not being at all specific, but that's really more Bruce's gig than his.]

Huh. Bruce is more into the private club thing than I am. It's not really my scene.
cisskabob: (Talk to me)

Re: [A. Because why not.]

[personal profile] cisskabob 2015-02-09 03:24 am (UTC)(link)
[...Honestly, the thought makes her sad. She knows what her Tim is like on his own; she knows how bad he can get without his friends around him. The idea of Tim never having them at all is... depressing.

Not that she's going to let onto that right now. She can tell by the look she's getting that he's catching on. May as well keep going.]

...What about your brother? He's a pretty natural leader.
notafraidofyou: (Dick and Tim)

Re: [A. Because why not.]

[personal profile] notafraidofyou 2015-02-09 03:32 am (UTC)(link)
[Both eyebrows go up.]

Uh. He's... He kind of does his own thing in Bludhaven. He's even less of a joiner than I am.
cisskabob: (Thinky thoughts)

Re: [A. Because why not.]

[personal profile] cisskabob 2015-02-09 03:37 am (UTC)(link)
[...That surprises her, visibly. She doesn't even bother trying to hide it. For multiple reasons, really.]

That--wow. Different. He kind of founded... several teams. We made our own, but there was the precedent he set.

[She pauses, leaning back against the table with the empty popcorn bowls.]

...How old are you? Just for point of reference.
notafraidofyou: (Upside Down)

Re: [A. Because why not.]

[personal profile] notafraidofyou 2015-02-09 03:53 am (UTC)(link)
...I feel like we're not even talking about the same guy right now. [Aaand finally have a slight smile as he turns the rest of the way around and puts his feet up on the back of his own seat] But I guess we're probably not.

Sixteen. You?
cisskabob: (Frowning)

Re: [A. Because why not.]

[personal profile] cisskabob 2015-02-09 04:10 am (UTC)(link)
...I guess not, [she agrees, and gives him a tiny smile of her own in return. It's awkward and hesitant, because... Yeah. This is weird.]

Eighteen. We met when we were fourteen, so... I guess things are pretty different where you're from.

[Sixteen. Sixteen was a horrible year for her Tim. It honestly makes her feel a little sick, thinking about Tim being on the other side of that year, again. Maybe it is a good thing this isn't her Tim. She shakes her head.]

It's gotta be terrible for ratings. [ haha she's got jokes. ]
