sit yourself down, and meet the best inn keeper in town ( O P E N )

Who: Everyone!
Where: The initial arrival rooms, the main lobby, all over the place.
When: February 3rd
What: Welcome, newbies.

ARRIVAL.
you wake up when you hit the floor in a dark room, and the air is knocked out of your lungs. the carpet is threadbare, worn with use, kind of dusty. and you're not the first person to endure this crash landing. nor will you be the last.

once your vision rights itself, you can see the well-lit hallway through the doorjam straight ahead of you. not to say there’s monsters in the shadows, but something propels you towards that door and out into the bright hallway beyond.

and once outside your room, you can hear it: the steady thrum of rain outside.

MAIN LOBBY.
there's a staircase at the end of the lengthy hallway you tumble out of. grab your suitcase and follow the dull green exit signs on the ceiling until you reach the disappointingly bland stairs that lead you down to the ornate old fashion hotel lobby.

to your left is a warmly crackling fireplace, to your right is a lobby desk. straight ahead are three large sets of doors, though only one of them is open to the public. and outside the few (curtained, permanently dark) windows is the continually steady hiss of rain.

welcome to the hotel.

FRONT DESK.
though there is a bell and a plaque designating the desk to be the main desk, the customer service desk, there are currently no staff members behind it. none shall answer your calls, either.

terribly sorry for the inconvenience.

SCREENING ROOM.
on a tall pull-down screen, a silent version of nosferatu will be playing on loop. at the back of the room, between the neat rows of fold out chairs, mounted on a wobbly table is the old timey projector, and mounted on the walls are some rather old speakers that warble out "terrifying" old timey music.

along the curtained windows is another long table, with a large bowl that looked like it once would have held popcorn. but is now unfortunately empty. same for the large hot drink dispensers labeled "hot chocolate" and "coffee".

OTHER.
the ballroom and breakfast hall are currently closed, grand doors locked.

there is no main door leading to the outside, good luck trying to find one.

the door to the courtyard is locked.

ROOMS.
you've a room key with your assigned room number on it. all the new guest residences will be located on floors one & two. while there is an open elevator in the main lobby, and the buttons light up inside, the doors will not close. all in all, you'd be better off taking the stairs.

while they're the same stairs you undoubtedly came down to get to the lobby, the door to the endless hall everyone woke up in will not reappear between the main floor and the subsequent residential halls.

there are twenty rooms per floor. feel free to get to know your surroundings; or your neighbors as they trickle in around you.

[Hook's thoughts echo Regina's, and she nods at his offer.]

Likewise. Let's hope we figure something out sooner rather than later.

[Giving him a tight lipped smile, she heads out then, determined to find some answers.]

[ how does he know its true? Emma has yet to see the mess he's made of the Knave's face, yet Killian remembers. striking a man out of nowhere does indicate foul play. it started with grabbing him at dinner and it spiraled further. he doesn't want to hurt Emma especially, and he can't trust himself anymore. he frowns as she takes his hand. nothing happens, his hand is not a snapping viper after all, but it seems too dangerous. he'd been so pleased to have it back, to finally be whole again, and it'd fallen apart so quickly and so spectacularly.

he shakes his head at the rebuke that such things don't work in the hotel. that very well may be the case, but that doesn't mean there's no magic around, period. ]
It's not worth the risk, Emma. He told me the hand was of the man I was before. I know it's true after I nearly broke the nose of that punk that interrupted our dinner. [ the drunk had been trying to break into the library but it was safe to say Hook had not been trying to do his civil service.

it's true that nothing happens when her fingers twine with his. he looks hopeless, convinced that his hand is a curse and not a blessing. it's better to believe that than resign himself to the fact he might not be as good as he keeps trying to convince people he is. he had believed it was a trick at first, but after how quickly and heatedly he reacted to pointless things, even in the hotel he was jumping to anger faster than usual. she'd seen it first hand twice now (first with the Knave, and angrily separating her from Baelfire hadn't been missed, either) and she still thought nothing was wrong? ]
What if I'm not? I could be dangerous. [ he doesn't say it but he hopes the implication is obvious. he doesn't want to hurt her. ]

( lydia cannot believe that this thing is trying so hard to play stupid. she knows it's a trickster, and the worst possible kind. she's getting angrier by the second, nostrils flaring as she draws a sharp breath to steady herself. she also knows that it feeds off of fear and discomfort and chaos. she doesn't want to feed it. it doesn't need a full belly. it gets worse on a full belly. she sets her jaw and speaks very clearly, though through her teeth. )

Let me make this incredibly clear for you. You may have everyone else convinced that you're Stiles, that you're just the help, but you won't convince me. You won't convince anyone from Beacon Hills. Stiles would never forget knowing me - never - and I would never forget you. And once I'm through, neither will anyone else. Mark my words.

( and, because she is sick of his bullshit and frustrated, she turns on her heel, and leaves him in the dust. )

( years upon years of practice and being superficial for the sake of social status. training. beauty queen barely sixteen-style. )

Lydia. I'm Lydia. Sorry, I didn't -- anyway. No. I haven't got a clue, and all of the exits are locked. There's no sign of any staff... There's something about this place that's flat out not right. We just have to figure out what - and eventually, where. That's where it gets tricky.
amplified: { 3.23 } « ᴏɴᴇ ᴍᴏʀᴇ ᴛɪᴍᴇ ᴡɪᴛʜ ғᴇᴇʟɪɴɢ » (and it's pushing up at the ceiling.)

[personal profile] amplified 2015-02-16 07:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Um - I'll pass on having my blood sucked. I've dealt with enough biting in the last couple of years to last me a lifetime. ( leaving that open ended, like a boss. )

Lydia. How are you handling all of this? You're not injured, right? I met someone who looked pretty beat up.
pajarita: (relentless)

[personal profile] pajarita 2015-02-16 07:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Seriously? [back up to the part where you're all used to biting? is that a sexy kind of biting or does she have to worry about cannibalism now? yeah she's going to worry about cannibalism now.

she shakes her head quickly, as if to say 'don't worry about it'. there are faint bruises and scrapes, and the brace on her leg, but that's just another day on the ground for you.]
I'm fine.
amplified: { 3.01 } « sᴛɪʟʟ sᴀɴᴇ » (playing dumber than in fall.)

oh my god what are you though

[personal profile] amplified 2015-02-16 07:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh - no, not Lily. I'm Lydia. Guess I didn't catch the other "L". ( she sighs and offers him a smile. ) Sorry for being so jumpy. This place doesn't exactly inspire feelings of comfort. ( nope, not his lily at all. sorry sweetheart. her eyebrows raise progressively higher the more he talks and her smile melts into a settled pucker-ripe ducklip by the time he's done. ) One - I think - think - I'm flattered that I look like your wife from behind? And two, no. I'm sorry, I haven't.
amplified: { 1.01 } « ᴡᴀʀɴɪɴɢ ʙᴇʟʟ » (and swallowed the key.)

( he seems so unstable that lydia's almost afraid to leave him on his own. she takes a calmer tone once he seems to settle down himself. she nods, trying to be reassuring. ) Okay. We'll look for her, alright? If she's here, we'll find her. But you can't spend the entire time panicking. That's not going to help anybody. First things first. ( she tries to smile at him in a way that might make him settle further, but she mostly feels bad for him, so it's kind of a pathetic attempt. ) I'm Lydia.

( then she drops one hand, and the other becomes more gentle, just resting on his arm. she's trying to be reassuring. ) Katniss is a very distinctive name, not one I've ever heard used for a person. So we'll start by asking around, seeing if anyone's run into her. We can go from there. Okay?
amplified: ♥ stiles. { 4.06 } « ɪ ᴋɴᴏᴡ ʏᴏᴜ » (i know you.)

[personal profile] amplified 2015-02-16 07:55 pm (UTC)(link)
I think we can just pinch each other and call it a day. ( she squeezes his hand, thankful for the gentle contact, but then drops it. it doesn't take her more than a couple of seconds to hug him. she's not normally so touchy feely in a situation where she's not hiding her face from a dead body, but she's so relieved that she doesn't even care at all. once she steps back, she rubs her lips together, looking up at him and shaking her head. her tone and demeanor are apologetic. )

Nothing I can actually suss out, unfortunately. It just like -- it's static. The way a radio sounds when it's between stations. Once in awhile there's a blip of something else, but not long enough or loud enough to get a grip on.
amplified: { 3.24 } « ᴏɴᴇ ᴍᴏʀᴇ ᴛɪᴍᴇ ᴡɪᴛʜ ғᴇᴇʟɪɴɢ » (now it's yours to play the part.)

screams

[personal profile] amplified 2015-02-16 08:00 pm (UTC)(link)
( that's two familiar voices and faces so far. lydia's head lifts and she turns to look toward the door. derek hale, in the flesh. she's not sure if she's relieved like she was when she saw scott, or starting to get very, very worried about this place and what it may have in store for them all. )

Not yet. The rain sounds like radio static on a concert amp, the movie that's playing is creepy and weird, and there's not a single living person who hasn't just woken up on the floor. You?

An unloaded gun. [ And a leather cap worthy of the leather bars this hotel thinks Derek must frequent. Oh. And, the collar. ] That makes four of us. [ Which is why he should probably... He ducks his head down, preparing himself to prepare her. ] Allison's here. She's with Scott.
pontificus: (c o y)

[personal profile] pontificus 2015-02-17 01:31 am (UTC)(link)
[She puts a hand on his arm, thanking him silently with a soft look and gentle gestures.]

You have done well enough. I may not be able to comprehend something much more advanced than that. It is just a marvel to behold. My thanks for taking your time to explain it to a simpleton like me.
technologist: (373)

[ He's careful to step out of the way, easing back into one of the corners of the lift to watch. He doesn't lean against the wall or anything remotely cool or nonchalant; instead he settles his hands on his hips to avoid fidgeting, only to lift one and run it over his hair a beat later. ]

Fitz. [ And he's already run into a small handful of strangers, each with a more colorful story than the last, so just to get the basics covered: ] From Earth. And it was 2014, last I checked.
kirking: (no. don't ever do that)

[personal profile] kirking 2015-02-17 03:42 am (UTC)(link)
[That's actually what he wants to hear because really. He's not good at kids. He doesn't like them near him. But he still feels a little guilty what even.]

Maybe just... stick to the lobby here. For a while. At least until we know what's going on.
kirking: (a memoir by jt kirk)

[personal profile] kirking 2015-02-17 03:44 am (UTC)(link)
[HE LOOKS BETTER THAN WILLIAM SHATNER THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

have a really skeptical look tho]

Oh so this happens to you all the time? How great for you. I haven't woken up with no idea how I got there since I was nineteen. But good job.
kirking: (no. don't ever do that)

[personal profile] kirking 2015-02-17 03:49 am (UTC)(link)
[What the hell was that?

Kirk stares back at him for a moment and then picks his jaw off the ground.]

Uh-- no. I'm good.
kirking: (oh well yolo let's go blow up klingons)

[personal profile] kirking 2015-02-17 03:51 am (UTC)(link)
[Kirk pats down his pockets like he's looking for those two things and wow, what do you know. He left those in his other pants.]

Did you try breaking the door off the frame?
kirking: (stop talking about my dad spock)

[personal profile] kirking 2015-02-17 03:56 am (UTC)(link)
[Jesus.

The fact that he hesitates, just even a little bit before deciding to tell her the truth means that he's grown. Really, it does. But there's no reason to lie. Prime Directive probably doesn't apply here.]

2259.
kirking: (stop talking about my dad spock)

[personal profile] kirking 2015-02-17 03:58 am (UTC)(link)
[... well.

He's hit on younger, how sad is that.]

Twenty six. I'd apologize more but you look a lot older.
kirking: (oh no what if she gets pregnant here too)

[personal profile] kirking 2015-02-17 04:01 am (UTC)(link)
[Switching to Jim Kirk would only be an upgrade. Clearly.

Kirk gives it one more go, one more hard push against the latch on the window and then fuck it. He gives up on this one.]

I'm not buying it. There was a way in here. There has to be a way out.
kirking: (it'll work you big vulcan baby)

[personal profile] kirking 2015-02-17 04:14 am (UTC)(link)
[That's close enough. Kirk isn't going to correct him about how the Enterprise works. The warp core will probably just confuse him more.]

It's.. not really important. Okay, it is but in the... future. So not.. important to you. It's a military operation. That... operates in space.

[Go figure.]

Maybe if you're lucky I'll show you sometime.
mygame: (could you page Melissa McCall for me?)

[personal profile] mygame 2015-02-17 04:30 am (UTC)(link)
[The basic problem is that the fox is still enjoying its game. When it grows bored of it or someone alerted the masses, then it would stop.]

[It couldn't stop the hint of a cruel smile that rose at her words. Words sit on its tongue to say, but it does not. Nothing would be gained right now. But it is good to see her. Derek and Lydia, the one two that are there so far as it knows. Later, it will learn of Scott.]

Be seeing you, Lydia, [it says to the empty room.] I can hardly wait.
mygame: (could you page Melissa McCall for me?)

[personal profile] mygame 2015-02-17 04:40 am (UTC)(link)
[The Nogitsune continues to give Kirk that automaton stare, the expression any person under another's control might wear.]

Very well then, Sir. If you don't mind, I do believe I will be turning in for the night. There seems to be errors to fix. Do not hesitate to call me if you have need.

[With that, the Nogitsune turns away and heads for the stairwell.]
hacker: (for 2k years without vaccines?)

[personal profile] hacker 2015-02-17 06:01 am (UTC)(link)
Wow. Okay, laugh riot.

[ Because she assumes that's a dig at her propensity towards breaking shit solutions, like with the window. ]

As it so happens, I did. Couldn't find much to pry at the frame with, though. This place isn't big on useful equipment.
trepidations: (gray ¬ oh hey professor i was just)

[ Just excuse him as he blushes, because that's a girl, touching his arm, and being nice to him. It's weird. ]

I wouldn't call you a simpleton -- I bet there's a ton of stuff that I don't know. Where... where are you from? I... I think we're definitely from different places, at least.
